That's real comforting coming from the guy who thinks Tebow is a great NFL QB.

The Jets will carry four Qbs as usual during training camp. So unless they release Simms before camp, he's on the team. They'll also carry him in case of injury. Maybe Mac can trade him during training camp esp if another teams wanted him. Due to injuries, etc. Maybe they could get a conditional pick for Simms.

Skip Bayless takes the short bus to work due to that mild retardation he suffers from. I take that as meaning nothing.

This is a good spot for Petty..... The offense is moving into more of a spread offense..... He may pick things up quicker than anyone could imagine...,,,

At least Mac didn't take amateur advice like someone did a year ago. I wonder if Rex took his kid's advice again this draft? :)

Still sit him for the season unless he just blows everyone out of the water

    Skip Bayless...lol

That's like playing pin the tail on the donkey with that guy. I'm surprised he's not mocking us for it. Like he has a clue either way

I'm not knockin' you, just fkn around. How sweet would that be? You never know, but I would never expect him to be a star

He's going to throw some pics early on but it's hard to deny his arm talent.

    His throws look effortless.

    Big time.

Maybe the system wasn't an ideal fit at Baylor? Retool the kid and hope for the best

No, the system was an ideal fit for winning a lot of games.

    Just wasn't an NFL system.

If he can master an NFL offense, we got ourselves a find.

If your retort to his accomplishments is that he sucks, that's an indictment of you not a remotely accurate depiction of Hundley.

I really don't get some fans. Regardless of your personal opinion a guy with his intangibles and athletic ability is a dream development project for any coach. No one is expecting Petty to come in and dominate. In fact, he has the chance to learn, develop, and compete his way to a chance in 2016 if things go well. But I do not expect to hear much from him this year.

So for a 4th round pick, to get a potential starting QB down the road, is a solid pick regardless of your personal opinions of his chances to succeed. The truth is, no one knows, but I don't think anyone can argue its not worth the risk given their current QB situation. I mean if Fitz beats out Geno, and he is no good, then we need someone to give us hope. :)

One other thing I like about Petty is his size. A true 6-3 230 lbs and plays upright. Texas big.

He is not Sanchez or Smith. That's enough for me.

Right. His skill set wasn't really ideal for that system like say MM in his. Obviously his footwork is the first thing that needs addressing

I'm thinking something like "it's an open competition and the best man will win the job." Then in PS game 1, give Geno and Fitz a quarter each then Petty the second half. If he absolutely puts on a show you keep him in it, if not he clearly takes the back seat and Fitz and Geno battle for the rest of the preseason.

Petty is much bigger than Hundley, also has much quicker release. Hundley was one of the most sacked QBs in NCAA. I was very upset they didnt take him earlier, but here we are. J e t s... JETS JETS JETS.

Can't wait to see him throw at practice.

Simms has the best arm I've seen in real life. It will be fun to compare the two.
