I'd give up a 7th rounder for him. You guys are ridiculous for suggesting we give up Harrison or Wilkerson for Mett.
I am very excited for this defense. We got some killers on that defensive line. I like Snacks, I just don't see him being a Jet for the foreseeable future. He's a unrestricted FA, after this season. If I can get a Glennon or Mettenberger for Snacks, I might look to make that trade.
He's not even worth that at this point. Mettenberger hasn't done jack shit for us to be trading picks AND proven players for him. Like I said a 7th rounder is adequate.
Why would the Titans trade a good backup QB still on his rookie contract for scraps or low picks? Do you guys understand the value of having a good backup available at an injury's notice?
haha Around The NFL @AroundTheNFL 21s21 seconds ago Joe Linta, Zach Mettenberger's agent, told @RapSheet that his client doesn't want the Titans to trade him http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000489615/article/titans-zach-mettenberger-doesnt-want-a-trade?campaign=Twitter_atn…
I didn't know much about him so I gave him a cursory glance to see if I'd be interested in a trade. I know better than to be suaded by a highlight reel but WOW!! I've never seen a college QB make more tight window throws. I'm gonna go on NFL game rewind and watch the All 22 tape of his 6 starts with the Titans and make a more educated opinion on him. IMO we are going to pick a developmental QB on day 2 or 3 anyway, so I might consider trading a 4th. He's better than any QB we could draft in that round and he's got a touch of experience.
The dude threw lasers at LSU. If not for the ACL injury, he likely goes late first round/early second round. Really came on his senior year. Had a sexual assault scandal. That he lasted till round 6 and we took guys before him that are (i) no longer on the team or (ii) will be backup players for their career was criminal given our QB situation. _
I think it was just poor timing. As much as I want to admonish the front office for passing on Bridgewater (!!!) and Met, I realize that they had just spent a 2nd rounder on a rookie QB who just went 8-8 and had a promising second half of the season. I can see why they were hopeful.
Want a young developmental QB with arm talent, athleticism, played in a pro-style offense in college, already in the NFL and won't cost you a pick? This guy is sitting on Jacksonville's practice squad right now.
Ok, he did NOT have a "promising second half". That myth needs to die. He played less shitty the last 4 games then he played the previous 12. Idzik was simply protecting his ass by not taking a QB because he was worried it would have been perceived exactly as it should have been--that he fucked up. Geno was a second rounder for a reason and there was no legitimate reason NOT to take another QB to compete with him. Should have taken Teddy. Or Carr. Or Mettenberger. Instead we got Pryor and then in rounds 3-5 worthless crap with multiple picks. Fuck John Idzik. _
The injury alone did not drop him from late 1st/early 2nd to the 6th. If an ACL injury could do that, Todd Gurley would still be available.
