To be sure, I'll feel a LOT better if the Jets add 2 of the players you mention, but I'll believe it when I see it. This team has no damned luck. Even when we get what seems like a competent GM we're still screwed and can't get the QB we need, and even in making a logical, sound, quality pick in taking the BPA it still works against the team. If we don't go offense in both the 2nd and 3rd rounds, I think that may be it for me and this team. Every effing year it's the same thing...high hopes for the draft and then we never get the right players. I've had enough.
you draft best player available. he was head and shoulders the best player available. he was the best player available after the first pick and many would say he was a better talent than winston. its one of those hmmm shame that we have to pick a guy who we already have the position covered BUT he is going to be a very good football player and very good football players find ways to help the team.
If we get a WR in round 2 or 3 that pans out we are not going to miss Kevin White all than much (DeVante Parker will probably be a better pro than him anyway). Had we taken Kevin White there is no one left in this draft anywhere near Leonard Williams for us to take in round two. Trading down does not seem to have been a good option because the Titans couldn't swing a deal for Mariotta and every team trading up this year gave away very little to do so.
Its not like we're used to seeing great offense from the New York Jets and it looks like 2015 won't be much different. We'll win with D or we won't win at all. Just the way it is around here. Accept it and feel better.
I had about three buddies text me last night after Washington picked and said "you guys are gonna get Williams. Holy shit" My brother in law, who is a die hard dolphin fan, is furious that we got "the best player in the draft" Fellas, we just got the biggest steal of the night. No one, and I mean no one, had Williams falling to 6. We just drafted the best player in the entire draft. And we didn't even need to move
That's kind of how I feel too. Yes there are concerns about need and where he will fit for us. But there aren't really any concerns about the player. He's a consensus top 3 talent and many think he's the best player in the draft. What's not to like really?
All I know is if I'm Tom Brady I'm thinking about retiring this morning or asking for a trade out of the AFC East.
LOL You got it all backwards. Tom Brady and his 4 SB rings don't give two shits about the rest of the AFCE. It's the rest of the AFCE that gives a shit about him and wants to grab his throne.
The more I think about this, the more I feel like this pick is looked at with anxiety because of the roster "problem" it creates. In so far as problems go, this is about a good a problem as you can hope for.
Dude is the best player in the draft and gives us major insurance in case things don't work out with Mo or Sheldon. The 4-3 front with Wilkerson Sheldon Coples and Williams is fucking lethal though. They truly went bpa. Need wasn't even in the calculation! I don't mind the pick. Now let's get us either a lineman, reciever or running back. Man I hope we get DBG.
Absolutely agreed. When we were on the clock I was screaming Williams or trade back for a haul. Very happy w this pick. As for today I think it will involve a combo of ol and rb/WR. But if there is another crazy drop then the jets might go bpa again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I would love a receiver or running back in round two but at the same time Gregory is still there and a position of need. He is the concensus BPA and if it weren't for the off field stuff a month ago he was considered a top 10 maybe top 15 pick. Just saying.
