Unrelated but: Anybody surprised Colts took Dorsett? They already had TY, AJ, Moncrief. Grigson and Loomis are the anti-Jets: defense be damned, just go offense, offense, offense pretty much every time.
You can get receivers later in the draft. Like 98% of the receivers in last year's draft made some kind of impact, pretty much the only ones who didn't were Idzik picks.
4 out of the last 5 years a we drafted a D-lineman in the 1st round. 26-38 record since this trend started. We'll see if that record improves this year.
TY and Mocrief were each 3rd rounders and AJ just signed as a stop gap. 4 first DL picks in 5 years is far different. Thought it was a great pick for them.
I do not believe some fans understand how great of a prospect Williams is. Do you like Wilkerson? Is he a good player? Do you like Richardson? Is he a good player? WILLIAM'S A BETTER PROSPECT THAN BOTH. He was the BEST player available. We're talking about perennial All-Pro potential. John Abraham was our last All-Pro defensive lineman in 2001. Before that, it was Gastineau and Klecko in the mid 80's. Williams has the potential to be All-Pro.... season after season..
You posted in the thread specifically about Williams potentially being there, but there plenty of other posts in random threads, too - I personally got involved in one on Monday: http://forums.theganggreen.com/thre...the-worst-luck-this-draft.83994/#post-3237259 EDIT: Sorry, unless you were speaking directly to someone else's posting, in which case I take it back.

He might be great; he might suck. But regardless of how he pans out, we took consensus best player available. Since there was no QB out there I'm certain would turn into a Pro Bowler, I'm fine with them taking the best player available even if it's a position of strength.
The insane value makes this a no-brainer great pick and probably the best thing to come out of Washington in years. Thank you Redskins.
You can't draft someone that doesn't exist. There's no reason to believe there's a Pro Bowl QB sitting out who was not already selected.
This pick makes the d-line ridiculously talented and gives the team flexibility when it comes to Wilkerson
I guess I could see your point of view...if I had tunnel vision. There's a lot of trade time coming up in the next few months and it might be nice to have a top guy in at the rookie scale for a while when guys with experience are looking to take a major jump in their contracts. From all the mocks I've seen, nobody had him lower than fifth and some were at two or three. I'll wait and see.
