Top ten pick is EXACTLY when you pick BPA...it's the later round picks you go for need specifically cause the players aren't going to be that far apart in rating.
Who do you guys think the Jets were taking if Leonard Williams got picked instead of Scherff or Cooper? I think we would have went Cooper if available....If Scherff was there instead we probably would have tried to trade down or taken Beasley? Maybe White or Scherff
Umm, I've read dozens of posts calling Williams a sure perennial pro-bowler and comparing him to Reggie White. People claiming we can now trade Mo no problemo because we have Williams who hasn't played a snap in the NFL. My point is we already have a great DL and we won four games, if Williams is just to replace Mo we basically cheaped out by not paying Mo and punted on our #6 pick by trying to replace him as a sure thing.
It's not unreasonable to say you go BPA as long as you have people graded at different levels. Once you get into the lower rounds of the draft and have lots of guys at a similar level, you can then take need into account, and that's how you don't end up with 7 rounds worth of DL.
Me too. Initially depressed by MM going to Tenn. But very excited about the big guy...and a certain quality player with the the 5th pick tomorrow.
I got back from the Rangers game tonight, haven't seen the 1st round results yet. Ugh, Colts took him from what I see. I guess onto Strong or DGB (even if DGB is a headcase, maybe he could learn from Marshall in that regard).
BPA at all costs is overrated. Look at NE. When do they ever go BPA? They took a center in round 1 last year. And a DT with a twice-torn ACL 2 years ago to prepare for Wilfork's departure. They took a kicker in round 4 (Gostkowski). You have to factor in need when building a team.
It's not a joke. It's an actual observation. Keep telling us about how Brandon Marshall is a head case and then pretend he isn't a perennial 1000 yard guy when healthy.
When healthy is the point, he's 31 and not healthy so what he did years ago while healthy isn't factoring into the question marks around the guy now. Chicago loved him so much they traded him for nothing then took White without even thinking about it... think about it.
He had a sprained ankle last year which is just about the extent of his health issues and almost put up 61 catches and 8 TDs. His season ended with a rib/lung injury that doctors said will have no longterm effects. Just admit you're overblowing everything relating to Marshall because you're upset we didn't pick Kevin White.
