Man...ya'll who are bitching...get over it. If you had paid ANY attention to any of the articles over the last week Big Mac is on record, multiple times, that you pick BPA...not Need. He says he saw "need" always land you in the shit with horrible picks. So why am I seeing such Boo Hoo's and surprises? This fuckin' guy is a STUD!!!! Some are saying a generational player. So nuff said.
A 3rd option at WR is much different than a 4th 1st round DE in 5 years. Cooper or White was logical because they would see 80-90% of the snaps while the best d-line in football just lost snaps to a rookie. I was cool with passing on WR if we upgraded OL or OLB but we just added to a already stacked group.
Then why didn't the other 5 teams ahead of the Jets pick him? So glad we outsmarted all of them and neglected the offense once again. BPA makes sense when you pick at other positions that "aren't" already stacked.
Not every team drafts based on BPA. There's also a reason the Raiders, Jags, Titans, Bucs and Redskins are frequently picking in the top of the first round.
Well you're taking it too far. They'll likely have guys rated in the lower rounds around the same and start to fill the roster with needs that way. The risk is lower. I've seen you complaining and can't say I'm surprised at all by this post.
this guy can actually rush the passer. think of it this kid is compared to Reggie freaking White by one analyst, by others Richard Seymour, and by someone else Sheldon Richardson. I am sorry taking a a receiver with geno at qb would be a waste, taking a 240 lb linebacker and asking him to play 3/4 linebacker he is a little too light. I am happy with the pick he was rated the best player in the draft. For once they did not reach and did not go for need and went Best Player and in the end at the moment the kid was rated the best or 2nd best layer in the draft.
Wait a minute. Is it BPA or not BPA? If BPA is d-line then we have to take them, by formula. Every time. No questions asked. _
No team goes BPA every round. Most people understand that's a first round strategy, maybe second round, then you fill out your roster.
I think it comes down to whether people believe in BPA or at least factoring in need. If Williams was the best player in the draft than obviously the five teams ahead of us all at least factored in need. I don't think you should ever reach for a player in the first round but if your team only had 4 wins you clearly have large holes in certain areas of your team. Think of it like being on a life raft and you have some big holes with water gushing in, some tiny leaks and areas where there is no water getting in at all. We just used our best patch on an area no water is getting in, like the absolutely sturdiest and strongest part of the raft. Guess what? Raft is still sinking.
