Last year there were many picks projected to the top 10 that slid very far and some into the 2nd round (ex. Marqise Lee). I have zero expectations based on mock drafts and am prepared for anything because there are way too many smokescreens out there this time of year. I think they go OLB so Beasley wouldn't shock me. Having said that, Mariota sliding to us wouldn't shock me either and I would prefer that to happen.
many have Jets taking White at #6 - safe pick though trading down and grabbing Gurley or Gordon would be interesting. Gurley with the ACL scares me a bit
I will say it's Beasley if the Jets stay at #6. For a WR they can grab Dorsett or McBride later.......
who would you take then? All the OLBs have major question marks over them and I am not sold on White - we need help on the OL and he is being mocked to go at #9 so its not like its a huge reach.
you just hear so many things about his game that make you think its not going to end well if that is the pick
I'm not saying it would be a big reach. Personally, I just don't believe in taking OGs in the first round, much less in the top 10. IMO top 10 picks are for playmakers (QBs, WRs, CBs, OLBs, and once upon a time, great RBs) or LTs. Period. I like White a LOT. Unless Mariota or Fowler is there, I'd take White. While I don't think he'll fall, Fowler doesn't have major question marks. I'd take him in a NY minute. Every player has questions. You do your due diligence in scouting the players, watching film, in interviews and workouts, then you make your pick. Playing it "safe" gets you nowhere. That doesn't mean taking wild risks or going with boom or bust prospects, but there is at least some risk with every player. The Jets need play makers on both sides of the ball. The #6 pick has to be used on a play maker, not an OG or even RT imo. If neither White, Cooper, Mariota, nor Fowler are there at #6, I'd trade down if at all possible. If that wasn't possible, I'd either take Beasley or suck it up and take Williams, even though I wouldn't like it unless I planned to trade Mo.
as I said, assuming Cooper, Mariota and Fowler are all gone - the rest (Beasley, Dupree, Ray) all have major question marks - sure everyone wants to trade down but there is always a lack of teams wanting to move up - White is too much of a one season wonder for me to feel comfortable - so annoying those couple of wins at the end of last season its hard to get excited about Scherff but I think it would be a good pick and nothing we do really is going to matter until we get a QB
If no Mariota, Williams. Fowler or Cooper than maybe they can trade back with a team who wants White. After Stephen Hill I don't want a guy with all of the intangibles but not much of a resume as far as games played. I'd rather restock the O-line with the extra picks.
so annoying when you look at teams like the Colts and Packers that strike gold twice in succession - makes playing the NFL like being on easy mode.
All but a pipe dream and far from a sure thing. We could do a lot better than failing with 3 incomplete QBs and finding elite players in most of the first round we draft in. I wouldn't be crying if we drafted MM but there are much better chances at elite talent in round 1 than him this year
