As a Jets fan you just hope Geno grows up. The issue with Fitz is that defenses will not be on their heels with his arm. He simply cannot make many of the deeper throws. Why are we going to spend all of this money on WR when you have a QB who can't stretch the field? Fitz is a good stop-gap, but he's an 8-8 QB. Geno is still young and JUST MAYBE Chan Gailey can get through to him. Crap, just look what he's done for Fitz. If it wasn't for Chan, Fitz would not still be in the NFL..

I agree except that Fitz survived without Chan although he plays better with Chan and with him now he should be better. I also agree about the money spent on WR's. With Geno U may just get a gun happy QB with no conception of when to throw and to whom. His progression and habit of looking at just 1 receiver could very well be his downfall. If they could cure him of his very poor decision process he could be a good QB and even go to the next level. But I just don't see it happening. Either way this is his make it or break it season. If it was my decision he would be gone. We could get one of the other good QB's left and let him learn by observing and Geno is not the guy U want a potential franchise QB to learn from. JMO And LET'S GO JETS on draft day.

Anybody still believing that Geno is our answer at quarterback, should re-watch the first quarter of last year's home game in October against the Bills. It's like the opening seen of "Saving Private Ryan, pure carnage.

I get our options are limited at QB and we don't want to sell the farm for Mariotta, but it boggles my mind how anyone can be "OK with Geno" after watching him these last two years. He's ours and we have no other option so I hope he does great, but I'm pretty effin far from "OK with it".

Yep. People who find Smith's performance to date acceptable are either fans of other teams or don't know the game. To those who would answer they are okay not because of his performance to date but because they think it will improve, it is more accurate to say they are hopeful about him than okay with him.

The problem with Geno wasn't Geno but the guy who drafted him and the guy who decided how to use the QBs.

Those problems are resolved, so Geno is basically irrelevant to the Jets future. The only reason he matters is because 1) rookie contract and 2) he's healthy and Fitzpatrick is not.

And that's a hell of a way to start a new era.

Hopefully, if he is the starter this year, than he legitimately earned the opportunity.

No more giving it to Geno because he's young.

I'm sure the Jets are disappointed with Geno's development up until now.
But I think it was foolish for them to "sell the farm" for Mariota.

I don't see Mariota as a special QB.
I think he'll be a solid starter wherever he goes, but being a "franchise QB", I just don't see it right now.

The Jets would be smart to just build around what Geno does well and go from there.
I think we've all seem glimpses of what he can do. I think he needs more weapons and better coaching.

How do you build around throwing pick-6's?

Get running backs that can tackle better?
