The draft was much better when it was only 2 days as opposed to 3 or 4 days that it is now. It leaves too much time for teams to sit and say well we made a mistake and regroup. When it was 2 days you could come away with players that were over looked because teams were rushing. There was none of the non sense of if your not drafted in the 1st round on Thursday night then you come back the next night to be hopefully drafted. Leaving New York I think is a big mistake because I feel like NY has a lot to offer players and family. Most of the time a player/family has never been to New York and the city never sleeps and offers a wide variety of food, plays, shopping, tourist attractions, museums etc that no other place can ever come close to, 42nd street alone at night is a sight to see. I think Goodell single handedly messed up a good thing in the league with rule changes and trying to make something that's not broke better.
Still pissed at this... Hey, they said it was because "Scheduling".. BS. I guarantee the Dolans purposely trying to get a higher bid... I have no credible source but you know what....they piss on everything.
The problem with the bold is that probably the Jets were one of those teams that rushed and made mistakes, but then it may just be that the Jets' GMs and Scouts were totally incompetent regardless.
What' s great about NY, no other city has fans of all 32 NFL in such a large concentration, which is great for the draft. I can't guarantee it, but Chicago is probably only going to have a large group of NFC North Fans, and maybe Indy & possibly Cleveland. There will be a few Jet Fans, but it will be nothing what we are accustomed to at RCMH. What's going on in Chicago looks like a pre Super Bowl celebration, it's over the top. The draft has morphed into one of the biggest events in sports. The NFL is all about exposure and the "brand name". While the NFL takes some of the blame, the media and sponsors fuel this atmosphere. I guess I'm "ole school", I believe less is more and miss the days when the draft was concerned about drafting players and not a 3 ring circus.
