The top ten QBs in the draft are pretty much these guys listed, below, and the draft has taught us, the best player isn't always the top pick. Is there a Brady in the hiding or a Wilson? 1 *Jameis Winston 6-3.6 231 4.97 Florida State 2 *Marcus Mariota 6-3.6 222 4.52 Oregon 3 Bryce Petty 6-2.7 230 4.87 Baylor 4 *Brett Hundley 6-3.2 226 4.63 UCLA 5 Garrett Grayson 6-2.2 213 4.90 Colorado State 6 Sean Mannion 6-5.5 229 5.15 Oregon State 7 Brandon Bridge 6-4.3 235 4.72 South Alabama 8 Bryan Bennett 6-2.2 211 4.81 Southeastern Lousiana 9 Cody Fajardo 6 -1.4 223 4.63 Nevada 10 Shane Carden 6-1.7 218 4.95 East Carolina * Underclassmen I watched a bunch of game film on the QBs and I am still in favor of the same guy I was a year ago if he had come out in 2014. Winston has character issues and was prome to turn-overs. Mariota is accurate but lacks experience in a pro offense, and who is the last good QB to come out of a college spread offense? Petty can throw a nice ball but is inconsistent and drops/fumbles a lot of balls. Grayson is a very smart QB who can call his own plays but very inconsistent throwing the ball and also lacks experience in the pro style offense. Hundley is very inaccurate even with no pressure and tends to throw the ball low all the time. My pick after another day of watching film is Sean Mannion. A four year starter who set 18 school records and had a HORRIBLE offense around him. No running game for support, a very bad o-line to protect and very young inexperienced receivers who dropped a lot of balls. Mannion is 6'5-5/8", and weight 230 lbs., with a strong arm. He is the only QB who played in a true NFL style offense and he did it for four years. I would draft Mannion with our 4th round pick and he would be our best QB. Let Fitz start the first half of the season and insert Manniuon the 2nd half. Unless either one is the clear best player. Let Geno warm the bench all year. If we get any other guy I hope it is Grayson, he seems to be the best at reading defenses, which is great for a college QB. .
Both Mannion and Grayson both seem to be underrated because they cannot run. I could care less if you have some pocket awareness. QBs throw the ball last time I checked.
I love me some Bryce Petty ! but i don't think we will get em. Too high to take him with the 2nd pick but probably won't be there by the 3rd. sucks
I hope we don't draft a QB if we don't get Winston or Mariota. Though, Brandon Bridge would be an intriguing option if we decided to get one. True developmental QB. Will never see the field though.
It's one of the worst cutups I've seen of the entire class (including the latter round guys). Does he have some upside, yes. Are there others with more upside, yes. My opinion is he goes a lot lower than people are anticipating, and Mannion/Grayon are going higher than expected.
Was at this game, kid had a really tough day. They went in undefeated and this was the reason they were not in the playoff. I don't want any QB not named Winston or Mariota this year.
Mannion was good when he worked with Gruden, and set himself apart from stiff competition in winning the Manning Passing Academy Air-It-Out Challenge. He has the size, strength and ability, and is just as good at Glennon who I would love the Jets to trade for. Give Tampa Geno who is more like Winston (who they will draft), and we take Glennon who can start and is similar to Mannion, who can sit behind him and develop. Go into the Season with Glennon, Fitz and Mannion would make me very happy. Fitz is a waste but we paid for him and he can help teach the offensive we will be running. Those that can't do, teach.
I'm in the same boat on Mannion. If there is a guy after missing the top 2, he can be the guy. Like I said before though, I wouldn't be surprised to see him go a lot higher than the grade he has been given on many draft boards. His 2013 tape was much better than his 2014 tape, he was surrounded with much more talent that opened things up for him, but he also made some really nice throws. I don't see any comparison between Geno and Winston though, they are two totally different QBs. Winston has almost more experience in a pro style offense than Geno does, and his passing is much more refined than Geno's. With Winston's questionable off the field choices, the Bucs would be in the wrong if they traded Glennon away at this point.
There's only one comparison between Geno and Winston and the OP has been guilty of it before. They're black
Grayson is much more athletic than that 40 time suggests. Reports from his pro day say he ran just around 4.7. He has enough speed to run, he just doesn't. He came into college a dual threat prospect which speaks leagues about what he is now.
Count me in for Mannion as a day 3 pick, best of the pocket passers IMHO even if he is slow footed. Developmental player but I've been on Mannion's bandwagon all off season and I'm staying on that wagon.
Agreed! If he is there when we pick in the 4th round, the Jets would be stupid not to get him. Pick a QB every year until we get our guy.
