Thought this could be a fun little topic. What is your ideal scenario tomorrow? Let's keep it realistic. i.e. Mariota falls to 6 etc etc. For me if we don't have a shot at Marcus at 6 which we probably won't, it would be to trade down to the late top 10 (maybe STL or around there) and grab Scherff. Then hopefully Shane Ray or Randy Gregory's off the field issues let them slide to us in the early 2nd round and we take them there and steal this draft early and lock up our OL issues take a medium risk/high reward possibility on those Edge rushers. Post away! Exciting time of the year boys can't wait until tomorrow.
We trade make a move up to #2 and get a boatload of pick from someone else in exchange for trading back down. Better yet, someone gives up the farm to move up to #6.
My ideal scenario is that Winston or Mariota fall to 6 and becomes a franchise QB. Without that guarantee, I'd be more than happy to trade back. Get a few extra picks here and there.
Ideal: Mariota or Winston falls to the 6 and we draft them. Very Happy: We get one of the following - Amari Cooper, Vic Beasley, Dante Fowler, or we trade down a few spots and pick up an extra 2nd/3rd Content: We get Kevin White, Williams (I'd rather trade back if he's available), Randy Gregory, or Bud Dupree. Meh: We get Gurley or an OT/OG at the 6th. Or if we trade up a few spots for Mariota if we don't give up too much. Or if we get any players that we could have traded back first and gotten (if we reach). Or if we trade back but don't get much in return/reach even after trading back. Pissed: We trade up and give away any future assets, or we pick a Qb not named Mariota or Winston with the 6th overall pick. Or a huge reach in general. I'll come back to this post after the draft to see how I should feel, haha.
I want to trade down with ATL, get the best available pure talent at 8. or stick with 6 and get Cooper/Fowler/Gurley/Mariota. I feel I'm gonna smile any which way as long as we don't take Schreff or Dupree at 6 (theres gonna be dudes better than them there right?
Jets get Mariota, Williams, Cooper or White and if it's Williams let out hotshot coach figure out how to use him.
Ideally, I think that the Jets would like it if Marcus Mariota fell to them at 6. The only scenario that I think this happens is if the Titans don't accept any trade offers and do not select him themselves. I think that if he falls past 2, he will fall to us. Having said that, it seems highly unlikely that this will all happen. So in this regard, I do not think it is realistic. Since this is not likely, ideally I would like us to either stay at 6 and select Amari Cooper/Kevin White or trade back with a team somewhere between 8-13 so that we may have a chance at taking Todd Gurley. Not to mention the extra picks. The more weapons we add to the offense, the better chance we give for either Geno to succeed this year or a QB that we select this year or the following. I don't think there are too many players that the Jets could take at 6 that would make me flip a shit. If they take Alvin Dupree I would be very dissapointed. He reminds me of Bryan Thomas. Not exactly the same build, but both saw their draft stock increase after the combine. If we took Brandon Sherff, I would be good with that. They won't consider taking a CB, at least not in the first 2 rounds. If they took a pass rusher like Fowler or Beasley I think that would also be logical. I am excited for this draft because although I hate to see us not come out of the draft with a top rated QB, I think that they have an excellent position in the draft to either upgrade a position or move back with a team desperate to add a WR. Go Jets!
My ideal scenario is to be able to trade down with either Cleveland or New Orleans and grab 2 first rounders plus maybe a 5th, always assuming Mariota doesn't fall to us
I like your plan a lot. But why so against Schreff? After seeing what dallas has done with an OL revamp I can't help but want to imitate that.
eh, he's just not better than Beasley,White, Gurley, Cooper, Mariota, I wouldn't take him with those guys on the board, not at 6. trade down and I'm fine with him. Don't know if hes answer at LT either for that matter. still a first round talent.
The ideal situation would be the Raiders taking Bud Dupree way too early, leaving someone like Leonard Williams to fall to us, and opening our options for a trade scramble to get to #6. I don't think there's any circumstance under which Mariota falls to 6 at this point, but there are a couple of players out there who might force a sweepstakes of sorts (Gurley, Peat, etc). Then on top of that, have New Orleans trade a couple of firsts to move up from 13 to 6, and we could get two impact players instead of one.
I'd love to see us trade down and get some new talent for our offensive line. It all starts up front with the big uglies...
We some how come away with Philip Rivers. Trade Mo to the Titans for the #2, draft Mariota & trade him to the Chargers for Rivers & a 4th. Williams falls to us at 6 replacing Mo.
I can't even think about Winston since I am sure he goes to Tampa, so Mariota falls to 6 and the Jets take him. Other than that I don't give two shits. It would mean the Jets have lots of talent elsewhere but end up trying to determine whether Fitz or Smith is less awful than the other.
