Depp has released some absolute horseshit in recent years...The Pirates films are the only thing keep him going in terms of success at the box office. Dude was losing ground at the box office and critics. He has all the talent in the world, but has made brutal career choices... Now this looks likes a terrifically acted mob film. What a transformation. Thoughts on trailer?
While he hasn't made a good/quality movie since Blow--I think the career choices he's made have been by his own design--a design to make him one of the richest starts in Hollywood. Net worth of $450 million, his choices can't be that brutal. As for the trailer, I'll definitely see it, he looks a tad over the top and that scene is right out of Goodfellas. _
It really showed Damon's ability as an actor, I despised him in that movie. I was going to be pissed if he got away with all that blood on his hands.
Great cameo by Alec Baldwin. Btw, that's actually a remake of a Japanese movie called Infernal Affairs. Decent flick, but The Departed is a masterpiece. _
Jack Nicholson's character was inspired by Whitey Bulger and yes Jack is acting like himself all the time
What will make this movie work is that its based on facts. Whitey Bulger was the most powerful boss of the Irish Mob in Boston. His word was law. He had the FBI in his pocket. Makes for easy script writing. I'm not sure if they acutally interviewed Bulger but I do know this biography should be fairly accurate. To me, this has all the makings of the next great Mob movie. Can't wait to see it.
