It is not a stupid idea, as some have branded it. DL is the jets strength, and traditionally a team should deal from strength. That being said, I would not do the deal you propose. I WOULD make Coples and Millner BOTH available on draft day, however, especially if Rex's stupid experiment of Coples at OLB is still in the works. The jets need help at RB, QB, and ESPECIALLY OL on draft day, so trading a defensive stud to get better on the other side of the ball is worth discussing (and very un-Rex like).

Offer Tenn Coples to swap #2/#6 with the understanding we're taking Willimas (or Dupree,) leaving Mariota to fall to 6. Tenn gets their d-lineman AND can use #6 on Mariota or who ever else they covet.

We get rid of Coples, which increases our ability of paying both Mo and Richardson, AND we finally get our dominant pass rusher.

You are correct that as a Jet fan I care about what is best for the Jets. But to the extent I have recognized the argument that there is a perception that the Eagles' O is perhaps a better fit for him, at least in the short run, that has been more about trying to understand why Philly might want to trade for the ability to sign him. And what they would be willing to give for him based on that perceptoin that they otherwise would not.

This might be one of the most ridiculous scenarios top to bottom I've ever seen. Where do I start?

    -Why would Tennessee do this?
-Why would we lie to Tennessee? That does nothing.
-If Coples is good enough to satisfy Tennessee's needs of a top tier DL, why are we trading him?

Where is the upside?? Trade Mo a proven commodity for Williams who 50-50 might be as good as him. No one in this draft is worth trading Mo for.

If they took Dupree at 2, I would gouge out the Jets part of my brain with a rusty spoon.

    Lol, seriously.

Not to mention, who's to say Mariota falls to #6?

Yeah, I'm not trading Mo for anyone in this draft class. It would take a serious overpay.

Mo is going to be a force in this league and now that we have a secondary for other teams to actually worry about, he is only going to get better. The QB class overall is very weak, and there is no draft pick that equates to Mo. We would be stupid to let go of Mo.

Not to mention as well, if you told Tennessee you were going to take Bud Dupree with the number two pick overall they will probably hang up assuming it was a prank call.

"Wait so you want us to give you the number two overall pick in return for and nothing-more-than-solid lineman and no draft compensation? Then you're gonna take Bud Dupree? Put your mother on the phone."

I would love trading Mo for #2 overall but there is no way the Titans do it...

Jimmy fucking Graham cost was 31 overall and he is the best TE in the league. Plus he has a long term deal!

Mo has one year left... It would be nuts to franchise him at $20+ mil and no player that isn't a QB is worth that... Plus he isn't even a Top 5 guy at the DT position in the league... He's in the top 10...

lmao Jimmy Graham best TE in the league. You cray son. Dude doesn't even block. That title belongs to Gronk and Gronk alone.

I personally think a DLine of Richardson-Snacks-Douzable is pretty formidable. Maybe even put Coples back at end.

Not that I think Tennessee would do this, but I think if we could come out of this draft with Cooper and Mariota, I'd be pretty happy with it.

only way this happens is if we trade mo and our 1st for their 2nd pick. why would they take mo when they can get williams on a rookie contract for the next couple of years? if we give them our 1st they may land him at that spot, but i'm not willing to give up both for mariota. because of mo's upcoming contrat there is a chance i would trade him for a top 10 pick to get a pretty primer passrusher

When your team is not playing well it's very easy to want to hold on to the few players that don't suck.
