theres no QB worth trading a known commodity like Mo for. well if winston didn't have his off field red flags maybe, but otherwise? I'd puke if we tried Mo for Mariota. and I like MM, just don't like the idea of giving up more than our 6th for him. let 'em fall and then make the call.
BOTH Mo and Richardson. And let's not go into restructuring now to take hit later. Yes, you can go Tanny's route again, but the whole point that Jets were out of those sweepstakes.
I don't think anybody wants to see Mo go. That said He,Sheldon & Coples don't exactly fit together outside of Rex's swiss army knife defense. Yes their styles of play can compliment each other but they can also hold eachother back. Sheldon & Coples are both natural 3 techniques. Guys w/ quick first steps who can fill/bend. You wanna let these guys shoot the gaps & disrupt. Meanwhile Wilk is a classic 5 technique who is at his best when he stacks/sheds. His role can certainly open things up for the other 2..but only on a limited basis schematically. Unfortunately Mo really is the odd man out..and his contract issues/regime change make this seem all the more inevitable. Assuming the Jets were to GET a first for Mo...they've got a lot of options both roster & draft wise. 1. They could consider moving Coples to Wilk's old position & play a true 3 technique front. They'd then use one of their 1st rounders to draft Coples replacement at weak side OLB. 2. Leonard Williams falls into their laps at 6. While Williams isn't on Mo's level just yet...he would be in short order & he is more able to perform the 3 technique duties. An upgrade in terms of athleticism.Theoretically they'd have other early picks to address other needs..so the "treading water" argument goes out the window. 3. They trade down or use the 1st they receive for Mo on Arik Armstead. He's alittle raw but can def. start right away. He's another guy who can 3 technique, more athletic than Mo & actually has a BIGGER wingspan at 6'7.His value is likely somewhere between 10-20 Again they use their other 1st rounder to fill another hole 4. They trade Mo AND trade down from #6...end up w/ either 2 firsts/2 seconds or 3 firsts/1 second & address DE/OLB/WR & either QB/RB A lot of options
The only, only, only trade scenario that I would approve of involving Mo is if 6 and Mo is enough to get to number 1 and Jameis. That's it.
Tanny backloaded all of his contracts. So far under Mac, with the exception of Revis, the Jets have front loaded all of the contracts they've issued, and can dump them quickly. Jets will have plenty of maneuvering room in future offseasons.
i'm not really going to comment on what's going to happen because we literally have no idea what mo is asking for some people here are assuming he want's money like Suh and Watt and that's just ridiculous
I would rather keep Mo and Sheldon and let Coples go if I had a choice. Both Mo and Sheldon can play the 3 technique in a 4-3 defense. Mo is able to play in any scheme. Even so you can have Coples as a right defensive end. Wilk has the speed, agility and strength to be a consistent threat as a 3 tech. I think the question we need to ask is, who has more upside and who has more talent?
If we could make that work under the cap long term and it wouldn't disrupt the team salary structure or prevent their getting some stars on the offense, I'd sign up for that.
What if we traded Mo for the 7th pick. We'd create some cap space and have two early picks. Mariota/Kevin White Cooper/Beasley Would people like this?
No way I'd give anything to trade up for Winston. He's one of the riskiest players in the entire draft, both because of his off the field escapades and his slow starts and poor decision making on the field. No thanks.
If a team who loves Leonard Williams in this draft looses out... Watch out fireworks for Mo might go off!!!
Fucking Tannenbaum. If he didn't have to pick a good player we wouldn't have to be worried about paying him right now.
I hope that we don't have to trade Mo. He is one of the few players I really wanted the Jets to draft and they actually did. I believed he would become a very good player and he has. We don't know the truth as to why he hasn't been re-signed. Is it truly because Mac wanted to concentrate solely on the draft, or were there preliminary discussions that led Mac to believe that it was going to be a long, difficult negotiation? We don't know what Mo and his agents are asking for in terms of compensation. I'm glad that the Jets finally have at least one player that other teams covet and are willing to try to trade for. If Mo can be re-signed for a reasonable amount, then I want him to stay, but if he's developed an attitude or asking for ridiculous money, then trade him to the highest bidder.
I would and you know its a good deal for the Titans too... They can add Mo for Dick Lebeau and Cooper/White for Mett with #6. We get the QB we like plus a little insurance if Mo signs with them long term, also I think Coples can step up to fill that role.
I've been feeling this for a while now, somethings definitely up with Mo. We have done a ton of homework on Mariota and that really scares me because I'm not loving a Mo for Marcus swap. I'd love for Rivers to be part of this equation but that's just not gonna happen. Trade Mo to Titans for the #2, draft MM & ship him to SD for Rivers and a 4th.
If it were me, I wouldn't be interested in trading MO unless it's part of a package to get us a franchise quarterback.
