For me it's the Rangers, the New York Rangers, one of the "Original Six" of this league. You follow the NHL? Wel thank those 'Original Six' for making it, sustaining it, and allowing it to grow so as to give birth to expansion teams such as the Islanders. You hate "everything about that team?" That they (along with the NY Americans) brought pro hockey to NY? You were rooting for a Pitt franchise that twice went into bankruptcy, once even AFTER they won a Stanley Cup? The Rangers went 54 year without a Cup and their fans always were there - they didn't need a Lemieux. They were never a drain on the league with fake, fickle fans. Rooting for Pitt over those Fuckbags? - Fuckbags? Fuckbags??….explain that one. Screw the Rag$. Once again, it's the Rangers, the New York Rangers. one of the "Original Six" of the National Hockey League. You will never root for them until the day you die? Good, I hope you live to a ripe old age because people like yourself who have so little knowledge of the NHL's roots do not deserve to be a fan of the New York Rangers. Fuckbags? If I didn't know any better, I'd swear you sound like an Islanders fan. Oh wait, you are an Oylandah fan. Well played lad.
Proud of our Islanders,,,reality is they are not there yet but played gritty and with a lot of heart ! Many reasons why they lost this series , going offer a million on the power play was one of them and the fact that there is not another playmaker opposite 91 is another not to mention too many of these kids were invisible .Halak played great hats off to him. Shame this is how we went down as we would have played the Rangers tough. Congrats Dark knight enjoy the win but I will say this And I never thought I could feel this way but I will root for the Rangers against the Caps as I just despise # 8 as great as he is he is one dirty SOB and his multiple hits on guys from behind are just so unnecessary,,despise the Rangers but pretty much hate the Caps ,,,and that's that,,,, Just look back on that blown 2 goal lead at the end of the season with 10 minutes left and this game is at home and not in Washington and the result most likely is very different,,,,,enough said I'm kinda spent and yes this blows. This is an edit but PS the coach has to go
Seems like everyone knows the coach has to go. Barry Trotz gave a very nice hats-off to the Islanders and it seemed VERY genuine. I hated this team the whole series and have developed a greater disdain for the Capitals after this series, but once I acknowledged they are playing the Rangers, I can very easily root for them. Sorry but I gotta disagree CBG. I can watch Washington lose after the Rangers are out of the picture. However, we shouldn't even be talking about the Rangers. Tonight is about the Islanders and the end of an era, and and hopefully the dawn of a new and great one, and perhaps in a short amount of time, a move back to Nassau County. I really thought the Islanders would win tonight, even when they were playing shitty, but it was not meant to be so. I enjoyed following the team this year and I have developed a new appreciation for the sport and team. This is coming from someone who was a casual hockey fan for most of my life, but for many reasons all the stars aligned in order for me to be able to follow the team this year and I am really grateful for it, including a pair of trips out to the Coliseum and it's something I'll never forget.
Really glad you clarified this because one thing in particular that really frustrated me during the series was that NOONE was ever near the net, especially during opportunistic rebounds in which it seemed like the nearest Islander was a mile away from the puck meanwhile the next being exposed. I didn't trust my limited hockey knowledge enough to figure out why, but what you said now makes total sense.
No problem, Its not just Capuano, I think the team showed they could score goals during the regular season, but they don't have enough playmakers, they don't need a bunch of all stars like the old dynasty, but as you noticed, the caps, the Rangers, Blackhawks...etc Those teams not only have 2 all stars, they have contributors other than the all stars, if the isles can get an all star winger and another defenseman to help with the power play, and a HC who believes in putting people in front of the net, maybe they win these type of games. 11 shots on goal is not a formula for winning a hockey game, 11 shots on goal is an embarrassment for an NHL team in the playoffs.
Great series, guys! I agree with many of you that it felt like the Isles should be doing better than they did. Halak made some great saves too. Good luck in Brooklyn.
Hardly - you so missed the point. So from here on, game on. What's on the agenda for Saturday?.....watching paint dry?
Well it's official got season tix next year at the Barclays. This season is over and that sucks but first year at the new place with a hopefully improved team should be fun. Buddy bought the whole season and I just have to pick and choose any and all games I want,,,,,,,,,be here before you know it
I like the 10 game plans. They are better IMO. Getting every home game for something like hockey is silly unless you have decent seats that you can sell those tickets for decent money if you don't need them.
This really sucks that the Islanders are no longer involved,,,,,,the playoffs are awesome but would be off the charts had our boys advanced,,,,oh well there's always next year
I'm really pissed that JC is staying on as HC, the specials teams coach should be fired but from what I heard the whole staff is returning.. Uugghhh!
Wang doesnt want to spend the money on a staff that is actually good. Glad this is his last season as owner.
