White is very good. Much better deep threat than Copper is. But at 6 I much rather have the all around guy over the burner. White will be overdrafted.
Cooper reminds me of Curtis Martin from a demeanor standpoint. I'm sure White is going to be a very exciting receiver in the NFL, but I believe Cooper has the mental makeup to be an all time great.
I'd take Cooper. And if he's there at 6 I'd select him. I think he has more of the Jerry Rice style intangibles. Which translate on the field in terms of productivity. But no problem selecting White.
I would be happy with either but I would rather have Cooper. Cooper is more polished and can do more between the numbers.
I'd be happy with either, but just because Cooper is more polished now doesn't mean that he will be the better pro. White's ceiling is a lot higher imo. I think I would prefer White.
I LOVE Marshall but we need a kid that'll be with us for the long haul. The addition of Marshall along with Decker & Kearly will allow a young guy to be eased into his NFL career without the weight of carrying the team on his shoulders. While I don't see us going WR in round 1 I wouldn't be unhappy if we did. Some have DGB slipping out of the 1st round and us selecting him in the 2nd, which would be awesome as far as I'm concerned. My ideal scenario is a beast edge rusher in the 1st & DGB in rd2.
In our scenario Decker is our A Brown type guy and Marshall is our J Jones type guy... If we add a receiver we need someone who can take the top off the D and keep them honest.
When you get into late November/December at Jetlife the wind(and average QB play) greatly affects ball placement. The Jets passing offense has always been at its best w/ a big physical high baller capable of getting deep.Al Toon, Keyshawn, Braylon hell even Rob Moore. You need that big catching radius who can also shorten the field. That's exactly what I see in Kevin White. Sure he needs alittle work on topping off routes & rounding out his game but he can definitely be a #3 for the Jets year 1.He becomes an instant match-up nightmare, deep threat & yet another big red zone body to compensate for Geno/Fitzpatrick.In a year or 2 he steps in for the aging Marshall & the Jets have a #1 WR for the foreseeable future.
I remember Stone Cold Steve Austin used to give great interviews and he beat everyones ass every week in the 90s.
Cooper is gonna be very good and consistent for a long time like a Reggie Wayne...but White is a dynamic downfield threat. If either one is there when we pick I hope we pull the trigger. We've never really had a great playmaking receiver except for Keyshawn
If catch radius is such a big deal to you, then you should be looking at DaVante Parker, not Kevin White or Amari Cooper. Parker has the best catch radius out of any of the 3 guys. I would rather have a guy that can beat you anyway possible - that to me is Amari Cooper hands down. Weather doesn't matter when you have a WR that can make a defender look so silly at the LOS. Doesn't waste space, reads defenses and can make plays down the field. I think Parker might even be better then Kevin White to be honest. Not a fan of 1 year wonders. The fact that he comes from WVU scares me even more. I hope the Raiders draft Kevin White and get him off the board.
Al Davis would take Kevin White or the other reciever who has climbed from the cellar to the top 10 range. Forgot his name. However, the new Raiders organization may look at the more reliable Cooper to help their QB
I agree Parker has the best catching radius in this draft..and it isn't even close. But White is still highly rated in that regard .He's also far & away a better deep threat which is the other component alluded to in my original post. Cooper is hard to deny as the top receiver in the draft. That said he isn't a "High pointer" & is more of a slasher that relies on separation & YAC(Not a bad thing) I'm not opposed to Cooper or Parker to the Jets in the least. Both would be welcome additions. I still prefer White just based on fitting the exact type of player the Jets have historically been successful with. You look at White's movement skills combined w/ his size...it's a very hard thing to deny. The only way this guy doesn't succeed is.. 1.Injuries 2.Off the field 3. Can't catch
I totally disagree on every account. Keyshawn was just a big mouth, lead-footed jerk imo. I never wanted or liked him. We had Don Maynard, George Sauer Jr., Wesley Walker, Al Toon. Eff Keyshawn Johnson. He wasn't a scab on their ass.
Not going to deny the kid has talent. I think Cooper is a true craftsman of the position and he's got the ability to come in and contribute right away so I prefer him myself. Cooper has the ability to grab jump balls too, of course not a major strength, but when you can run routes like Cooper you can get open in a number of ways. I won't be mad w/ White at 6 no way.
