Now they're saying CB Jalen Collins failed multiple tests too. That's three first round guys now, wtf? lol. Before the Gregory news the idea of them ending up with Gregory and DGB would be exciting. It seems it would be risky but if you can add the top talent it could be a coup. DGB would be a score after their 1st pick for sure. Tough to say if Mac is willing to take risks tho
Yea I really can't see a new executive team taking chances on either or both Gregory/DGB. But they both look like top 5 picks when you take the drug issue away
WR has the depth advantage overall but I see both positions as equal in the 2nd For pass rushers I like Gregory and Harold. I like Thompson and Kendricks in the 2nd too, but they would be ILB's. The only WR I would want in the 2nd is DGB or Perriman. These guys are in that late first-early second range. If they're gone I would look to other positions rather than reach.
There is NO receiver in this draft that is more pro ready w/ the included higher ceiling then Cooper. You are crazy to even post this. lmao can't take Cooper.
Don't forget Nate Orchard, whom the Jets have had visits w/. He could be the pick in rd 2. Excellent motor, good pass-rusher, liable against the run however.
Too much depth at the WR position--if you can get 90% of Cooper in the 2nd round and that frees you up to take an impact player at another position like OLB where there is not as much star talent, I make that choice every time. Besides, Cooper isn't even the best WR in this class, White is. And there aren't any guarantees that someone else might be more productive as a pro. Cooper is going to be a real real good one. I'm not so sure that another WR at the top of round 2 won't be as good or better. I'd be happy if we took Cooper but the pass rusher we get in round 2 IMHO isn't going to be nearly as good as Beasley. I'd be happier with Beasley in the first and Dorsett in the 2nd. _
Kevin White isn't the best receiving prospect in this draft. The best receiver is Amari Cooper and that's not even debatable. People love potential and measurements, but no one looks at the fact that this guy is a 1 hit wonder coming from a school that hasn't exactly produced the best NFL prospects. The fundamentals in regards to playing the position (not wasting space, running routes, knowledge of the route tree), Kevin White is below average - he's also disappeared in big games (notably the TCU game). He doesn't even have the most upside, that award goes to DBG. The fact of the matter is, more than likely you never even heard of Kevin White until you saw him in the combine. That's when the love-fest came into play, but I like to look at the tape and the tape tells me who the best is and that's Cooper. You cannot get 90% of Cooper in this draft from any other prospect that is a ridiculously dumb thing to say considering no WR in this draft can run routes, and play the position like Cooper. No receiver in this draft will come in the NFL and produce right away like Cooper. Definitely not Kevin White. I would be happier with Cooper and either Nate Orchard or the DE from UCLA. Far better package with more production AND potential. Dorsett is a good prospect, nothing special compared to Cooper however.
If the kid keeps his head on straight and improves, he could be the next Randy Moss. No receiver in this draft has more upside. I encourage you to watch his game against Auburn in 2013. Good Lord. http://draftbreakdown.com/video/dorial-green-beckham-vs-auburn-2013/
^ Ill take your word for it...but he's one of those guys that would be too high to take at 6 but he's not gonna be there when we pick again
Btw, I've been watching WVU football for years. I knew who Kevin White was when he transferred there. _
What position should be the pick than? Assuming QB is off the table. Who's to say that Eli Harold cant be 90% of Fowler/Beasley/Gregory. Go with the better player. If that's Cooper, you take him.
have to agree that Cooper is by far the best WR prospect in the draft, and one of the best prospects overall. furthermore i don't believe the dropoff on OLB prospects is all that big. the 'top rated' OLB's are overrated. give me a guy like Harold, Double O, or Orchard in round 2, and I'd be fine with that.......especially if we land Cooper in round 1. would much rather that than Ray/Beasley with Green-Beckham. lots of upside in that scenario for sure, but so much risk too. Cooper with Harold.....that would be ideal imo.
Yeah, I have as well - all indications are scouts are in love with his potential and size - but other then that, no true reasons why he would be the best prospect. I bet it's the same scouts that put Bortles over Bridgewater because of his measurable and potential. Cooper I think could come in and immediately contribute - I don't know about Kevin White.
I don't see a lot of linebackers that will be able to go in and play for all 3 downs. Especially Beasley. Jets could go get Cooper and get a "lesser" prospect in Harold / OO, Orchard. The more I think about it the more I believe the linebackers are overrated as well. Their contributions to the running game would be suspect at best.
You realize this is the same exact arguments being bandied about last year. Folks were touting Marquise Lee as the most pro ready WR and Sammy Watkins the most explosive and Mike Evans as the pure physical guy and people were down on ODB. He's looking like the best of the lot. You never can tell. _
Beasley and Dorsett would be a great draft. I'd even sign up for trading #6 to New Orleans (to get Williams) for #13 and #44. Gurley, Dorsett/DGB and Oline with 44.
Not based on anything really objective I worry about Beasley being another Gholston-like bust. There has been a long history of busts at this position based on combine or based on coming from a great team (where multiple people deserved attention or where a given player could really benefit from the scheme). Same can be said for WR but it seems like Cooper caught a lot of balls when everyone knew the ball was going his way.
