without a QB we wont ever win shit... Our team is built to win now!! I think we need to consider moving up for Mariota because he fits Chan's offence and Geno sucks... If it costs us a 1st next year and a 2nd this year so be it.
please god let this be true!!

i'd swap picks and give up next years first to get this done for sure.

think it would also cost this years second tho?
there is first round talent to be had where we pick in round 2 this year...
someone will fall who shouldn't.......Harold, Humphries, Clemmings, Gordon, Agholor, Dorsett, Double O, Duke Johnson, Tomlinson......good talent to be had. price starts to get real steep at that point, after factoring in next years first.

I'm going to choose to trust Mac. Since they have so thoroughly vetted Mariota, I think if Mac believes that Mariota will become a franchise QB, he will do whatever it takes/costs to get him (within reason). If not, he won't.

We may never know whether he aggressively tries to trade up to # 2 if TN stays put and takes Mariota or if another team beats us out and takes him. If the price is ridiculous, then Mac may just think the cost is too steep to pay in his first draft, and decides to take the BAP at #6 or hope that Mariota falls somehow.

The cost will be steep. But as GM Mac should be prepared for that.

You gets what you pay for.

It is a moment of truth. Idzik had one also but got cold feet and saved us money instead. If Marriotta is passed up and becomes a star I guess we commiserate with our pass rushers who keep the games close but we can't score points.

For Mariota at 2, I would give up: #6, 2016 1st and either a 3rd or 4th this year or next year. Anything more and I hang up the phone and tell the Titans to go fuck themselves. Under no circumstances would I give up the 2017 first rounder or any 2017 draft pick. I know the Redskins gave up 3 firsts to get RG3 but I'm not even considering that.

If Winston was there at 2 I'd offer slightly more.

Depends if it's the Titans or Raiders.. Titans IMO would want to swap picks plus a 1st and a 2nd.. Just a guess...

For me it's the opposite. I like Mariota more than Winston, so would give up more for Mariota than I would Winston. I wouldn't trade up for Winston at all, not with his character and/or penchant for being slow to get going.

I read somewhere that Mayock doesn't think anyone will trade up into the top 5 to select Mariota. He must like being a contrarian. I hope he's right though.

I'm fine with taking him if he's there. Even though the other players there are much less of a gamble, it's worth it for a decent QB. But he's not that sure thing you trade the farm for. I also think Hundley would be just or almost as good at a much cheaper price.
Just to leapfrog the Redskins? They're more likely to take a WR than a QB

They worked Mariota out in 'Eugene'. Geno. Brought him in on 4/2. >>>>>>>42.

5 days after working him out privately.

    Time for maths:
    42 + 5 = 47.

Jets one of 3 teams to bring in Mariota to facility.
    47 + 3 = 50.

    Mariota visited 4 teams.
    50 + 4 = 54.

He also worked out for 5.
    54 + 5 = 59.

Albert Breer has 3 'r's in his name.
    59 + 3 = 62.

    62. Jets plan to trade from pick number 6 to pick number 2.

    6-->2.

Can confirm. Jets are planning to trade up.

No, to get ahead of/block someone else that might want to trade with the raiders or the Skins to get ahead of the Jets for Mariota.

Concur. I trade up for Mariota but not Winston but I absolutely take Winston if he's there at 6 (and MM is gone).

Can't wait until next Thursday when all of this speculation is put to rest and we get to see who will actually wear the green and white next year.

Hoping it's Mariota, but we shall know in due time.

The problem with trading up is that it significantly increases the intensity of needing to get the pick right. If you trade up and get a guy who becomes a foundational contributor then it is worth it. If you trade up and either whiff, or the guy is a contributor but just an "ok" contributor, then you've set the foundation back for years. And in the draft, the odds of any pick working out in the teams favor are historically not good. It's fools gold honestly.

I'm so confused, I thought that what we see everyday is real. Is it not? Is this the Matrix???

Damn...should have eaten that red pill when I had the chance.

I'd take Winston based on his talent alone, but wouldn't like having to do so. I don't like him. I think he has little or no character, and those aren't the type with whom you ultimately win in the NFL. His decision making is poor, he digs holes for his team too often and often doesn't show up until the 2nd half of games. With the talent he had around him at FSU, there's no way he should have thrown that many picks or that they should have been behind in so many games. Actually, I have such disdain for him, I think I'd trade down and take the bundle of picks rather than have him on my team.

Well we agree on a lot of things, but I can't pass up a guy who could be THAT good.

And I don't think he's an asshole like Cutler or a lazy POS like JaMarcus.

I just think he needs some growing up to do. And if he does, he'll be a cornerstone. And if he doesn't, hey, guys here think we can go grab our franchise anytime, no big deal.
