    DISCLAIMER:
I'm not an expert, I'm just a fan but I enjoy reading these. This mock draft is my wishful thinking for a Jets draft and has no bearing on reality. I doubt I get any of these picks right compared to the actual Jets draft.

    With that said...

1.1: TB = Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
1.2: TENN = Jameis Winston, QB, FSU
    1.3: JAX = Dante Fowler, OLB, FLO-RIDA
1.4: OAK = Kevin White, WR, WVU
1.5: WASH (TRADE OUT) = Amari Cooper, WR, Bama

TRADE with NO: Jets get NO 1.13, 2.12, and 5.18 for Jets 1.6 (assuming Leonard Williams falls and NO can't pass it up)

    1.13: Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia
    [IMG]
At 13 he's a great pick. Teams are coming out now saying they expect him to be ready week 1, which means he may not last until 13. But we'll go with the rosy assumption that he will.

    2.6: TJ Clemmings, OT, PITT
    [IMG]
I think he falls to this spot as he has a ton of potential but needs some work. Jets can learn him up for a year to see if he can take over next year.

    2.12:
Phillip Dorsett, WR, Miami (Sr Bowl)
We have size and physicality at the outside receiver spots. We have small and shifty in the slot. We have size at the TE position. With Dorsett we get the guy to take the top off the D with pure, unadulterated speed.

    3.6: Lorenzo Mauldin, OLB, Louisville
    [IMG]
Prototypical size at 6'4" 259lbs and long arms (33"). He is physical and relentless on the field getting after the ball. And he has some cool hair.

4.5: Adrian Amos, FS, Penn St
    [IMG]
Good size and speed combination and he's not afraid to mix it up. I view him as a more physical Sherry Rhodes with more speed too. He can be the centerfielder and let Pryor become the in box enforcer.

    5.18: Tyler Kroft, TE, Rutgirls
    [IMG]
Dual threat TE who is a willing and able blocker. He's very athletic and can be a good complement to Amaro and signal the end for Sudfeld.

7.6: Tyson Chandler, OT, NCSU (Private Workout)
Very raw prospect with great size 6'6" 330lbs and 36 5/8" arms. In comparison Brick had 35 1/2" arms at the combine. Gotta love the potential of a big dude with long arms.

7.7: Brandon Bridge, QB, South Alabama (Combine Interview)
He has some tools to work with and I'm a big believer in taking a QB flyer in Round 7 every year. Maybe with a couple years of NFL coaching he can become a solid backup.

I appreciate the time and effort you took with this but if that trade happens then the Jets got robbed. Good value is the New Orleans 13, 31 and maybe a 4th

    Nice mock.

I have been saying in the scenario the Williams falls to our pick we need to trade back at a big price!

Gurley would be a nice pick at 13 for us in that scenario. TJ would be a really nice pick in the 2nd, I would put him at RT and push Breno inside beside him.

Mac comes from a scouting background so retaining some picks for 6th overall is highly likely if the top 2 QBs/WRs and fowler are gone. I feel that scenario is possible but not probable however.

I'm no expert either but I'd be happy with this. Wouldn't really bother with 7th round QB but anything in the 7th round is what it is.

If you ever post ANOTHER mock draft I will send you a strongly worded PM.

But it's a baseline for reference. In the 1996 draft the Bucs traded the #6 pick to the Seahawks in exchange for picks 12 and 63. That's the closest comp I could find but that was before the rookie pay scale. In comparison I traded the 6 for 13, 44, & 148. I could see that compensation increasing if teams get into a bidding war, which could be possible since Leonard Williams is considered by some to be the best player in the draft.

SIDE NOTE: That 1996 trade involved the Jets who traded from #1 (Orlando Pace) to #6 (Walter Jones) then #8 (James Farrier). Ugh.

I like the New Orleans deal but I'd probably select Williams who NFLN says is dropping. Gurley is great but I don't like his medical history. Based on what I've read Mac would gladly do this deal and draft Gurley. I'd have no problems with it. Ps I just rechecked and according to the Draft Value Chart we would basically get their overall #13 and their 2nd round pick (overall #44).

Basically Mayock convinced me when he made the change. I know he is not always right on this stuff but I believe he has been hearing things that made him change his mind. Plus I think the Bucs have a 1 year fallback plan in Glennon in the event MM needs a redshirt.

Nice mock. Not sold on the Mariota/Winston flip, but it's certainly within the range of probability. About the Jets, I wouldn't be unhappy with this draft.

bruh... i'd have to think we get more than than for the 6th pick... but lets just it did for whatever reason happen... i think it's pretty smart picks from there... but i think we could have a better draft keeping our own picks in that case.

I concede its possible but trades are subjective. I could only find 1 actual trade from 6 to 12 to compare it to in the last 15 years and my proposed trade provided much more in return than that one.

Btw, the scenario I provided above with Williams falling is the only one I can see us making a trade down. If Winston, Mariota, Fowler, Cooper, or White are available at our pick I think we pick one of them unless we get an offer above and beyond "fair" compensation. I just don't see how Mac can pick another DL but the Bears right behind us would probably run to the podium. That makes us a good trade partner in that specific scenario.
