Regardless of whether we trade up or down, who do you THINK will be the pick, NOT who you WANT the pick to be.
Depends on how much we like Mariotta, if we could be like the Colts and only have 2 QB's for 30 years that would be great, but we are the Jets
I want us to trade down (hopefully landing both of Cleveland's picks at 12 & 19). At 12 or lower Todd Gurley is a guy I would like us to take. Even if they have to take him at 6 my guess is that Gurley is the pick.
I honestly would not hate the pick. If he truly is the next AP, we can build our offense around him as opposed to building it around the QB. It's the next best thing. It would open up opportunities for the receivers too.
I like Ray too, more then Beasely. But that would be as risky as Mariota, and maybe a reach at 6. So I take the QB. If they took Ray I wouldn't be surprised. Without a QB an elite pass rusher is golden and the need for one is maybe pushing Ray and Beasely up the boards a little The two QB's, Fowler, Williams, Cooper, Gregory, and White are the most likely imo. Get one of those guys and grab the best guy available in the 2nd round at a different position from what you get in the 1st round, e.g: OLB Eli Harold, WR Philip Dorsett, or maybe a Gurley or a Green-Beckham or Gregory fall to you.
C'mon man, I am sure we can make something work to get those picks off your hands ... I went Cooper, then Beasley.
I don't think he's anywhere near being the next AP even when healthy, AP stepped on the field as a true freshman and was destroying teams, he was a man among boys even at that level. I do think TG will be a really good rusher in the NFL, but AP is a one in a decade RB
I honestly don't know for myself what kind of prospect he is because I haven't watched him in depth. I'm just going off of what I've read from Matt Miller, scouts and the like. If his ceiling is a "really good rusher in the NFL" then obviously I wouldn't touch him in the top 10, but if scouts are as high on him as I've heard then I'd at least consider it.
What would you guys think if we walked out with Beasley or Fowler in the 1st and Gregory in the 2nd? Id be pretty pumped with completely overhauling the OLB position with 2 young studs I dont think Gregory will be there but there is some speculation he may last till the 2nd.
In case you have 2 hunches. (or of course a trade down where we end up with 2 first rounders, as someone else astutely pointed out)
