Did we draft another Sanchez? I don't think you mean the Sanchez who beat Tom Brady and knocked the Patriots out of the playoffs. Because if you do then you're the Kyle Brady of TGG fans.
That's nonsense. He may not have played up to his money when all was said and done, but he wasn't all that bad as far as Jets qb's go...not even close.
After Gholston, Reggie Rembert deserves a (dis)honourable mention. Vick wasn't a bust,in my opinion, just a ridiculous pick for a first-rounder. One of my all-time favourite moments (in retrospect) is the howl of anguish at that draft when Rozelle said "the New York Jets select... fullback...." Some guy just shouts "Oh no!" before even hearing who the player was. Classic Jets moment.
This thread is depressing. I wonder if fans from other teams do this kind of thing. I'm not knocking the OP or anyone's comments here. I certainly understand them and agree. It's just sad and pathetic that we have such a miserable draft history. Hopefully this changes for good with Mac!
That is exactly who I was going with initially. There was zero reason for us to take Kyle Brady there. Johnny Mitchell was finally putting it together and we had Fred Baxter(who I always liked but hadn't played much). We also had Richie Anderson who was insane as a pass catching FB, B Bax wasn't too shabby back there either. Case in point is that we absolutely didn't need kyle "fucking" brady there.
Holy smokes man. I don't remember that Hess quote but that's a hell-ova thing to say. Could you imagine how it would go over today if Woody came out with some mess like that?
I loved Brad Baxter, and liked Fred Baxter. I think they were very solid players. One of the plays in Jets history that most sticks out in my mind involved Brad Baxter. I forget who the Jets were playing. I forget who the Jets QB was. I think the Jets were pretty deep in their own territory. The QB dropped back to pass and a blitzer was headed for him. Baxter hit the blitzer, lifted him up in the air and drove him about 5 yards or so backwards. It was one of the most violent blocks I've ever seen, a real thing of beauty. As I recall, Fred Baxter was pretty good as both a blocker and receiver, but my memory may be faulty on him.
Yup it was weird, we were told his physique was just too good to pass on. And of course both NY rags couldn't wait to show pics of him in the locker room.
Johnny Lamb Jones? Jones was drafted by the New York Jets from the University of Texas with the second overall pick in the 1980 NFL Draft, which the Jets received by trading two first round draft picks.
Gholston,Sanchez ,Stephen Hill then Kyle Wilson.Sanchez is a bust he was drafted 6th overall and amounted to nothing that's a bust to me .You don't get credit for being a good back up when you were drafted that high.
Sanchez was drafted 5th, but a guy who produced 90 TDs for us can't be in the same sentence with Gholston whose production was exactly zero. _
I'm guessing that you are a teenager or something, mainly because I have shoes older than your memory of the Jets draft but also because your posts sound like an ADHD delinquent that spends his afternoons in detention
