full mock of the first 12 picks of the draft plus all the Jets picks.
I'm using three 7 round mock drafts to help determine player availability for each pick.
In order for me to select a player he had to be available at that pick slot in 2 of the 3 mocks. The Mocks used were Drafttek, a CBSsportline mock, and walterfootball mock. I did not pre-scan the picks, I just went and when my picks were up checked to see who the player I wanted most was and who I felt would go off the board first.

For trades I went off of rumors, and well rumors are what rumors are, 9 out of 10 will be false rumors, but hey it's all we have to go on right now.
I'm being pretty daring in a few of these trades in the top 10

    1 Buccaneers Jameis Winston QB.

2 Trade Chargers (from Titans) Titans Get Rivers and the Chargers 1st, Chargers Get #2 and the Titans 2nd with a conditional 2016 pick if Rivers signs an extension with the titans, if Rivers doesn't sign an extension the Chargers send the Titans their 2016 1st, if he does resign the Chargers get the Titans 2016 first or 2nd based on 2015 playing time. Technically this deal could also be with the Eagles or any number of
other teams but this oen was just a fun rumor that's flying and it does actually make some sense.
    Chargers take Marcus Mariota QB.

3 Jaguars take Dante Fowler OLB/DE

4 Trade-Raiders Dolphins. Dolphins give up their 1st, and 3rd this year and 2016 1st.
    Dolphins take Kevin White-WR.

    5 Redskins-Victor Danny Shelton DT

6 Trade-Browns. Jets receive Browns #12, 2nd, 3rd and one 4th. Browns still have 2 first round picks, and still have one 4th. They're not hurting and get arguably the best WR in the draft and this is inline with what's rumored for a Raiders Dolphins trade. In fact probably a better deal.
    Browns select Amari Cooper WR.

    7 Bears-Devante Parker WR

    8 Falcons-Alvin Dupre DE/OLB

    9 Giants. Victor Beasley OLB

    10 Rams La'el Collins OT

    11 Vikings Brandon Scherff

12 Jets Randy Gregory OlB/DE. Jets get a top 5 talent at a discount because of off field issues. It's a gamble but sometimes you have to roll the dice. Physically he's a beast, a little raw as a pass rusher but nasty and definitely can set the edge.
Not simulating the rest of the first round.

    2nd Round
2a Again grabbing risk and value the Jets select Dorial Beckham-Green WR. The 6'5" wr is easily a top 10 talent but his off field issues push him in to the 2nd. There's a chance he'll fall further, perhaps much futher. His value is good here despite the risk and the Jets have an additional 2nd round pick to help offset the risk. With the Jets current receiving corps they can work DGB in slowly. At this point he was available in all 3 mocks.

2b Trade. Jets trade down with the Chargers, Chargers pick up Phillip Dorsett and the Jets pick up a 5th and 6th round picks.
With the new 2B the Jets select Hau'oli Kikaha. at 6-3 250 Kikaha is another easy first round talent who falls in the draft not due to off field issues but due to injury issues. Kikaha isn't the beast that Gregory is, but he's a non stop old school player. At this point it's not a position of need but it's BPA and the value is just too great. it also sets the Jets up for a very good future if they can add a young ILB at some point, maybe later in this draft, we'll see.

    3rd round
3a Duke Johnson Rb- There are many valid arguments who the top 10 RB's in the league and at this point he's my top rated RB on the board and top player. I like Duke Johnson a lot as a RB counterbalance to Chris Ivory and Powell, both of whom are primarily up the middle runners. The 5'9 207 Johnson had a good combine speed of 4.54 but he plays faster. He's got good hands and can run wheel or downfield routes. He's also a guy you can line up just about anywhere in a Sproles or McCoy fashion.

3b Ifo Ekpre-Olmu- CB. Prior to his injury he was considered potential first or 2nd round material. He's also a little short on size for the tall long corners preferred today at 5'9 195. But, he has very good ball skills, is very good against the run, in fact in a Bowles defense he'd make a very good cover or deep FS or nickle corner. I consider him a steal at this point. I thought about taking an OL here but I just like Ifo too
much and I felt he'd be gone by the time I picked in the 4th.

    4th round
4a Chris Conley WR. I just felt someone was going to grab him and you can never be too deep at WR. He's a boom or bust guy, in some regards a little like Stephen Hill in that he comes from a run first offense. Unlike Stephen hill he's not being taken in the 2nd so if he busts it's not a huge loss. But he's well worth the gamble here in the 4th. Unlike my previous picks he's not someone who's stock has fallen to the contrary he's a guy whos stock has risen. It wouldn't surprise me to see him go in the 5th or 6th rounds but with his measurables someones going to take a shot at him and since he's on the board I'm throwing the dice here. at 6'2 witha 4.35 and 45" vertical, yeah going to take a chance on him.

4b Dayrl Williams OT/OG- It was a choice between him and Josue Matias, both were available here Both grade out the same and I like both of them a lot. In the end though I rate Matias better as a guard I went with Williams due to his versatility and his size. As a RT he's a road grader and solid in pass protection, but a little slow footed to block speed rushers on the edge. He's probably a better guard than tackle but again the grades are about even so I went with versatility.

5th Sean Mannion QB. He's a risk but considering the jets didn't have a 5th round pick going in to the draft he's worth taking a flyer on. I actaully think he's under rated due to his lack of mobility with a good shot at being a Mettenberger type of Qb, but a good shot at being nothing but a backup. Either way he's worth a short in the 5th as he's got the arm to make all the throws, reads defenses well, very good pre-snap reads, but he needs mechanical help.

6th Jarvis Harrison OG. I'll raise some eyebrows with this pick I'm sure.but the 6'4 330 pound guard is worth taking a flyer on. He's shown quickness to the 2nd level a good pass blocker, he gets a little lazy at times though. Could very well be a solid guard. Until the O-line gets sorted out you have to take some linemen.

    7th round
7a Trade with lions, Lions get #223, Jets get #231 and #240. Lions select Austin Hill WR.
7a Trade Cowboys. Cowboys get #224, Jets get #236, #243. Cowboys select Jalston Fowler FB.

7a Corey Grant RB, Ilike Corey a lot and I think he could be the steal of the draft. 5-9 201 pounds he put up a 4.28 40, 10'7 broad, 37 Vertical, and 22 bench reps. Oh and did I mention 4.28 40? He's got good hands but he doesn't turn inside as much as teams would like and he's rough around the edges. But still guy like this could be a very good weapon.

7b Jets select Kysheon Jarrett SS, Kysheon has a big ceiling, but he's a very rough jewel. He's fast enough to play deep safety, he's a hitter to play against the run but in man to man coverage he's still learning. He's selected here for future potential as well as his experience as a punt returner. He's a hard worker and smart player, just rough around the edges. Prior to the combine he was considered a solid 4th or 5th round
pick. potential steal, potential lifetime special teams player.

7c Cam Thomas CB. 6' 200 he's got good length. he's exceptionally solid against the run and a tough player who takes chances...which is part of his problem, he takes a lot of chances trying to make big plays. he's got potential as a slot corner or nickle back and a nose for the ball, he's also good for special teams. At one time he was considered a 3rd or 4th round pick, another guy who's stock has fallen and i think is worth taking a shot on here.

7d Dres Anderson, WR. I was going to take a punter here, my reason for the 2nd trade down. But when I realized that Dres hadn't been selected in 2 of the 3 mocks I was okay, Dres Anderson it is! 6'1 flyboy with speed to burn. Injuries and too many drops have dropped him but the kids got potential steal written all over him. At worst he's special teams material. Plus he's got a good football pettigre as the son of Flipper Anderson.

I was actually more involved in trading than I had intended to be, especially later in the draft.
Still 4 trades in total, 2 of them on day 3.

Nice job. I like reading these, just to get a fans perspective on things. If I did something like this, my wife would say I have too much time on my hands. Nevertheless, I'm curious as to why you feel two teams would trade up in the 7th round? I don't fathom how players at this depth of the draft could be so coveted by teams that they would give up an additonal pick? If a team had their eye on a particular player so late in the draft and that player was selected, I would imagine they would just move on to the next guy on their depth chart, since the odds of anyone drafted this late making it are very long.

hmm..if Rivers won't play in LA what makes you think he will play in Tennessee and if he won't why on earth would the Titans make that trade?

Because he is from the South. It was reported that Rivers did not want to move his family to LA, if the Chargers moved there, so this makes some sense from that POV. Even though Rivers is 33, he has a pretty good durability record having started every game of the last 8 seasons. Figure the Titans, who pretty much have no QB, could get a proven pro-bowl QB who should be good for about 5+ years.

I was going of rumored reasons why he would go there.
He played under Wisenhunt when a couple years back.
He was born and raised in Decatur Alabama, which is just under a 2 hour drive from Nashville and it's been conjectured in almost all the rumors tying the two together that those are reasons for the fit.

Not really sure they would, especially the latter deal. The first one with Austin Hill having fallen to the 7th I could make a very solid argument for since he was graded 4th round material not that long ago. The 2nd deal with the Cowboys is a little less solid, though Fowler is considered one of the top 2 FB's in the draft and generally graded for the 5th round, but he still is only a fullback, albiet one that can actually run. Really when it comes to the 7th round you're pretty much talking about special teams players usually.

Just for the record, If there weren't trade downs in the 7th open I would have gone with Kysheon and Corey Grant.

Nice draft - I don't know a whole lot about Hau'oli Kikaha, I think you can address the offensive line with that pick and shore up the interior line - that's just me though. Or inside linebacker.

I don't see the Browns giving us picks 1-4 for Cooper. I also can't see that much trading going on in the seventh round.

This is a scary draft. Almost every pick has huge boom or bust potential.

Interesting. I like your using three 7-round mocks to see if players would be available. Nice planning and thought process.

Like some others, I can't see the Browns trading 4 of their first 5 picks for Cooper or all the trade ups in round 7. I also can't see Mac's first two picks (as well as a couple of others) as a GM being HUGE risks, even with all the additional picks he accumulated. If both wound up in trouble or busting, his career would be over. I see no way he'd do anything so brazen and risky. That would be a Tanny/Rex kind of move. I like most of the players you drafted and like that you addressed a lot of needs. I think the LT position needs to be addressed in a more serious fashion, however.

So Leonard Williams doesn't go top 12?

He will retire before he moves his family, he has all but come out and said that. What's he made, 100M..he doesn't need the NFL anymore. Oh, and Tennessee really isn't the south, they joined the confederacy but 3/4 of the people fought with the north.

he's said he'd retire before moving to LA. Not my rumors man, and like I pointed out 9/10ths of rumors never materialize or never were anything more than rumors, but the rumors out there and it has multiple sources, though none from any of the main players.

You know, that was a messup on my behalf, I totally didn't realize I hadn't put him on a team. damn, that was a muck up. I don't believe I missed that lol. Yeah, he'd probably go to the Redskins or the Giants at the very latest. I had him earmarked for the Titans at #2 until I decided to go with one of the trade rumors involving Mariota and I totally forgot to re-add him to the available players pool.

Yep, lots of boom or bust. Definitely not a play it safe draft and yes if 3/4 of them bust I'd be on my ass unemployed after 2 years or so. But can't really say there are any reaches.

considering this is a to 10 heavy draft with a fall off after the first 6-8 players and considering past costs for similar trades for perceived best WR in class has been minimum two firsts.
consider the Brows get arguably the best WR in the NFL, still have two first round picks, and still have a 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th left. If you consider their 2nd first round pick a 2nd they are really only draft pickless in the 3rd round and they keep all their 2016 picks which should be a stronger draft class, at least at the top of the draft.

I was going to go LT but to me the value wasn't there in the first round, even at #12 and the LT's were all gone by the top of the 2nd. I could have stretched my rules and taken Ereck flowers who was still on one mock board at the Jets 2nd round pick, but it failed my 2 our of 3 requirement. I really debated on going LT at #12 despite the lack of value in comparison.
to me the biggest risks that I took were with my first two picks. I'm pretty certain most of the rest of the players become at least regular starters. Kikaha has had two surgeries on his knees but he's such an old school player that it really doesn't scare me that much, it would scare me more if both surgeries were to the same knee.
Ifo really had no injury issues prior to this years injury, but that couple with his size has pushed him down most boards a little. He's not a risk pick, but I do think in todays game he's a better NFL fit at safety than Corner, I don't see him as a risk at all.

As far as taking risks, yes I did take a lot of them. But lets face it, Jets fans are impatient bunch. in the last 27 years the jets have had 8 GMS., with 6 of them of them coming in the 15 years that Johnson has owned the team (Bill Parcels, 2000, Dick Haley,2001-2002, Bradway 2003-2005, Tannenbaum (the longest lived of the Johnson GM's) 2006-2012, and of Course Idzik for 2 years and now Mac. Only Tanny has managed to survive more than 2 seasons as a GM under Woody, and he actually owes his first year to Bradway.

Heck Tanny's teams were 2 games over .500 with only two sub.500 years and he still got ran out of town. But Tanny's teams also were only more than 1 game over .500 twice as well.. In short if you're going to stay a GM under Woody you'd better win quick, and often because you're not going to get time, based on past track record, to build a winning team the long way around. You're going to need to strike some gold and if I've only got two years to put a winner on the field without an established QB I'm going to swing for the fences. Tanny held on for 6 years by trading picks to win now and backloading contracts which eventually caught up to them and was one of the prime reasons Revis had to go bye bye.

At least that's the way I look at the Jets job, I'd like safer more likely picks that will almost definitely pan out long term, but with Jets fans being what they are, the New York Media being what they are, and most importantly Woody being who he is, if you don't hit quick and hit the ground running you're probably looking for a new job in 2 years. you don't have time to sit back and hope players develop.

The forced exception here is the QB. Even in a trade for Mariota the consensus is he won't be a first year starter in all but one or two systems in the NFL. and there's no QB who's even 50/50 to be a starter in 2 years outside of the top 2. So that's a forced position at this time.

That's just my perception on it, any other team I would have gone a different route, but I tried to keep in mind the ownerships behavior and the lifespan of the previous GM's.

(edit) I forgot to mention the cleveland deal, they didn't trade 4 of their first 5 picks.
they exchanged their first 1st round for the Jets first round. (they still had their second first round pick). they did trade their 2nd and 3rd and 1 of their two 4ths. in essence they gave up a 2nd and a 3rd to move up 6 spots in the draft.

I did keep the trades pretty reasonable in terms of why the other teams made the deal, with the exception of the 2nd 7th round pick which was a stretch. Browns are rumored to be looking to trade up for either Cooper or Mariota and the price paid for cooper is somewhat in line with what most rumors are projecting the trade would require to get in to the top 6, most involve multiple 1st round picks..
the other trade with the Chargers, they've been linked to being interested in Dorsett but most think their pick in the first is too early for him, I don't think they risk him going to a team between them and the Jets pick, especially since they had picked up an additional 2nd from the Titans (whom incidently is where they took Ereck Flowers as the 1st pick of the 2nd round, yes in two of three mocks he was still on the board at pick #33, but was gone by #34 in two of the three).
