I've been going through the quarterback prospects other than Mariota and Winston and I think Grayson is QB 3 by far. Hundley is a very slow decision maker, takes a lot of sacks and doesn't keep his eyes downfield when he gets out of the pocket. To be honest, he reminds me a lot of Geno Smith. I'm not really high on Petty either. He seems to have arm talent but almost all of his throws are to his first read (way more than Mariota's). There's talk that his back injury affected his play but I still wasn't thrilled with anything. I think he's a very watered down version of Mariota - given that they're both from up tempo spread offenses - but he lacks the football IQ, athleticism and quick decision making. He could be good but he's a project.

Onto Grayson, I actually really loved what I saw out of the kid. He's got really good poise in the pocket. He made lots of accurate throws while under heavy duress and while getting hit. He's got pretty decent pocket awareness, stepping up when necessary, but this area can probably improve. I think he's got a ton of arm talent; he throws a tremendous deep ball with great touch and he was dead accurate in all of the games I watched. It also looks like he's got more than enough arm strength. I love that he's got experience working under center. He's also a good decision maker and I didn't see him make too many ill-advised throws.

I think there's a ton of potential with Grayson. I heard someone on ESPN (think it was McShay) compare his play in the pocket to Teddy Bridgewater's, whom I also like. If we miss on Mariota and he's available in the middle of day 2 I'd love it if we could get this kid.

Here's how I break the class down:
    1) Winston
    2) Mariota
    3) Grayson
    4) Petty
    5) Hundley

I wouldn't touch anyone after Grayson before round 4.

Edit: watch this game if you want to be sold on him. It's his bowl game. I think he's going to be a stud. Keep in mind that Colorado St. has no talent on its roster.

Oh man, Grayson vs Utah might be the most impressed I've been by any game from any QB in this class. His team loses by 35 and his team repeatedly drops throws on amazing throws into tight coverage, but he never loses confidence and repeatedly shocked me with throws. I can count 6+ 'wow' plays from that game. Grayson vs Utah and Mariota vs Oregon St. are the 2 games I've watched where I was stunned by individual performances.

His receivers did him absolutely no favors and towards the end of the game he was just absolutely under siege every play and they resorted to screening every time. There was no talent on that team whatsoever. I think he's really underrated because of it and he's going to be very good in the NFL.

From what I've seen, which isn't a lot and nowhere near enough for me to give an educated response, I really like Grayson. I've said I'd be happy with the Jets drafting him in the mid rounds. However, I have seen even in his highlight reel that he really stares down his receivers that he's throwing too. I like the throws I saw from him though.

I'm a Grayson fan, and I feel as if many are down on him, because he doesn't possess any special traits or excel in one particular area; but when I watch Grayson I see a Quarterback who throws accurately with anticipation, I see a Quarterback who possess the arm strength necessary to complete throws such as out routes on opposite the side of the field and comebacks, he's capable of going through his progressions rather quickly and he's able to reset his feet with ease as well. He seems to have footwork issues, but if we miss out on either Winston or Mariota, I would not mind Grayson in round 3.

Don't like him at all. I see very limited upside and I don't want to spend a pick that we could use and get a RB or WR or a Guard that could be a potential productive starter.

I watched some of his games this year and he reminds me of Kellen Clemens with a lesser arm.

If we don't get Mariota I absolutely want this kid. I think he needs a year to work on his mechanics and adapt to the NFL but I think he's going to be really good after that. I'd sit him under Fitz for a year.

He reminds me a more athletic Ryan Fitzpatrick.

I liked him. i.e. at Colorado State. With his lack of size, his low release point and his so-so arm strength, I'd be very wary at the prospect of him trying to throw outside the numbers vs. faster NFL CBs. I think this guy's lack of physical tools limits him and think it would be fairly easy for a DC to scheme against him. A dink-and-dunk prospect at best. Guy played in Ft. Collins, CO., elevation 5,000 ft. November-December in the northeast with the winds? I just don't think he has the arm for the job - jmho. Bryce Petty yes, I just don't know if he can match his NFL arm with "NFL brains" after having run Art Briles' spread at Baylor.

Spot on. Not physically big, not a pro arm.

I really disagree about his arm strength. I saw him make plenty of throws outside the numbers and most of the scouting reports I've read have listen his arm strength as a plus, not a drawback.

I don't think CSU really threw outside the numbers much. When he can wind up and wing it, he can throw it down field but sitting in a pocket, he can't zip it on a line to the sideline. With even moderate, "can't step-into-it" pocket pressure, his lack of velocity is going to allow CBs on the NFL level to jump the route on 'out' patterns. again jmho

It's just what I saw. Not a strong arm.

I think I like him a lot more than most. I agree he's far and away the #3 QB prospect in the class. Mariota and Winston are both better prospects, but I'd rather take Grayson in the third than trading up for Winston/Mariota. If Mariota is there at #6, it becomes a different story.

Honestly, reminds me a LOT of Pennington (pre-injury). Very good leader. Great touch. Experience under center. Arm strength fine for the NFL level (in my opinion) but wouldn't call it a strength. Good decision making. Ability to deal with pressure. Was groomed by a pretty good QB guy in McElwain. He has to have a lot of mental fortitude as well to be the only player on a team worth a damn.

His biggest knock is the lack of competition he faced, which don't get me wrong, is a legitimate concern. One could also make the argument that if he was at a better school, he would have faced tougher competition, but also had a lot more offensive talent to work with.

He's my ideal third round pick.

I like Grayson a lot too. But I just don't know if it's due to how little talent this QB class has to offer. I'm speaking outside of Mariota and Winston.

I do think he could turn out to be something worthwhile if groomed correctly. I like Petty a lot but his sideline offense is hindersome.

Whichever of the two is available in the 3rd I say is worth a flier.

I think Petty goes in round 2

There are a couple guys I would consider taking a flier on in round six or seven but other than Winston I am not sold on the other QBs in this draft for a pick before round four.

There is nobody after the top two that will be anything but backups in the NFL. Of course on the Jets that could mean a 4 year starter, just look at Sanchez and Smith.

I do not think it would be unreasonable to expect that a third QB from this class succeeds in the NFL (assuming Mariotta or Winston doesn't bust) but I do not think it will be easy to guess which one of these guys will be that player.

The odds of success are lower but I would rather spend a late pick on Brandon Bridge or Connor Halliday than burning a second or third rounder on one of the other guys.

I don't think Grayson will ever be more than a low 2 / high 3 in the NFL.

I'd prefer Bryce Petty as a project. Very talented, but is in no way anywhere ready to lead an NFL team yet.

Some QBs you can just watch them play and tell that they are going to be pretty good when they get to the NFL. Other guys you just hope they can put it all together. Truth be told, Florida State and Oregon have never had guys come to the league and light it up from the QB position. I am far from a fan that believes in the small school guys that have faced a low level of competition and you fall in love with their inflated numbers. Grayson is the 6th best QB in this draft class behind Winston, Mariota, Petty, Hundley, and Mannion in my opinion.

As a JETS fan, we need a Franchise QB, and I like Bryce Petty and then Brett Hundley as the two guys the JETS should look to get in the second round.

The hard fact is that the Jets need to draft a QB this year and every year thereafter until we get THE GUY.
If we miss on MM we still need to get someone with potential and give him a shot to prove himself during training camp. QB selection is not an exact science as many people make it out to be. A P Manning or Andrew Luck come around once every blue moon and we might never be in the right position to get the next sure thing. In so doing we might be missing out on many others that can grow intoto the position and become NFL winners.

I hope the draft gurus under Mac have done their homework on these guys and select one, Petty, Hundley or Grayson. We can not rest until the right guy is on board. Every year the process for a QB prospect to take the reigns must continue till we land the perfect candidate, and then give him enough time behind the clip board to be successful.
