I really dont see Ivory and Ridley both on the roster to start the season.

I think you trade Ivory for a late round pick and go to war with Ridley, Powell, and a draft pick.

He's in the last year of his contract so I really can't see any takers. Anything less than a 3rd is just a silly trade IMO and no one will bother giving more than that. His value this year is worth more than any return we'll get.

Why not? Ridley is coming off an injury, and with Ivory's running style he is somewhat prone to injury. The Jets could alternate them keeping both fresh and pounding on opposing Ds. IMO he's not going anywhere.

Let's relax.. Ridley may start the season on the PUP and despite his tattoo signed a 1 year deal. Let's not give Ivory's spot away just yet. IF we do draft a back which we should because we need a guy who can catch the ball out of the backfield AND we find out Ridley will be good to go for training camp THEN it will be okay to speculate Ivory being traded. Until then it makes no sense.

It depends on the season he has,Bill Belicheat called Ivory one of the best backs in the league .He is a better overall back then Ridley and its not that close.I feel like he hasn't played his best football yet. These last two years he has been with us he has played more games combined then his 3 years with the Saints,if he continues to stay healthy he has a lot of good years left.Ridleys one dimensional he is a less powerful version of Ivory and he doesn't catch a lot of passes out of the backfield. But I do love the combo of the two of them and Powell. We should have a great running game this season for sure

2016? i don't know. who did we draft this year? if we want him we should easily be able to re-sign him if we want.

I'm confused are you talking about 2015 or 2016?Why wouldn't Ivory or Ridley be on the roster this year,Powell is more expendable then the both of them

better question, how are we using RB's in this O? what run/pass ratio are we working towards?

how many total RB's are we keeping on roster? we keeping a FB?

the quietest man in the organization has to be chan Gailey. I've never even seem him in an interview.

Of course he's on the team. No one would give any big picks for him.

I think if there is a chance we can get Gurley or Gordon (pref Gordon) in the 2nd were gonna jump all over it and trade Ivory.

Every report I've seen on Ivory lately has the new regime not very high on him.

I have not read anything negative about Ivory and the new regime, nor do I think that the Jets are not hi on him. He has been a consistent performer for us. I think the coaching staff wants to have multiple horses in that back field and at WR to give our QBs as many options to succeed as possible.

In my opinion there is no reason to assume that the Jets will not have Ivory as a feature back in 2015, pounding the rock and softening up defenses. Next year might be a different story, and it's highly dependent on who we draft and how well Powell and Ridley perform.

I really don't see the need to trade a proven performer in the midst of so many other critical issues

Gailey's offense calls for a lead back that is both fast and good in the passing game. Ivory is neither. He would be an amazing #2 and goal line back though.

I thought when they brought him in that Gailey was a specialist at adopting his offense to the skill level of his players? He may prefer a scat back, but I would think he is smart enough to see the value Ivory brings as a bruising downhill runner that punishes defenses.

And why would they then bring in Ridley, who is more comparable to Ivory than bring in Spiller, or Reggie Bush, or Vereen?

Well the new regime has already made it clear they arent very thrilled with most of the leftovers from the Rex/Idzik regime. And even if Gailey is able to adapt I dont think Ivory is the back that you change everything for. He isnt a top back by a longshot. If you take away the injuries and ball security issues Ridley is probably better than Ivory is, but those are two big issues with him and will most likely overshadow his positives.

And because of that Im not saying that Ridley will be the starter either. I think if the Jets have the option to draft Gordon or Gurley in the 2nd round that guy will be the lead back next season.

Why are we always looking to jettison our players? Of course Ivory is going to be here THIS year, to allude to anything otherwise is just foolish. If you meant NEXT year, well that obviously depends on how this year plays out. I personally would like to see Ivory pick up more of the workload, but if Ridley is the one that ends up shining I'm going to assume we let Ivory walk and work on a deal for Ridley. And vice versa if Ivory steps up.

Why not just, ya know, KEEP our good players?

Gailey supposedly is a specialist at adopting his offense to the skills of his players. Maybe this is a sign that in an effort to try to minimize the pressure on Geno and/or Fitz and to avoid TOs by pounding the rock, and mixing in just enough passes to keep opponents off balance. Maybe Mac just brought him in for competition and one of the two will be gone by the end of TC. Maybe it was just insurance in case they couldn't get a good pass catching back in the draft that they wanted, in which case they'll run the ball more and adapt as need be.

One thing I'm sure of at least at this point...Mac didn't bring him in just to bring in a RB. Mac seems to have a plan and a clear purpose for everything he does. What better way to improve competition at the RB position than to bring in another RB who has basically the same skills as last year's starter? If he had signed Spillers or a similar RB, then the Jets would have had 3 different types of RBs, and I don't think the level of competition would have been there. Ivory would probably have remained the starter, Spillers would get just enough carries running the ball to keep opponents off balance as to whether the Jets were going to run or pass when he came on the field, and Powell would have been the 3rd string back who got some carries and passes to keep everyone fresh. As it is, there's some real competition at RB now. If they do draft a RB, he will most likely be one who is a good receiver and has some giddyap.
