I know this thread is a bit redundant given all the other MM threads, but hey these next 3 weeks are some of the most boring and frustrating of the NFL calendar year. Figured I'd throw in another discussion. I honestly can't remember a top end QB prospect that's been linked to more different teams than Marcus Mariota has been. It seems like he's been linked to almost half the teams in the NFL by now. Honestly, I had to leave some teams off this poll (e.g. Chiefs) just because I already had too long of a post (I don't even know if this poll is gonna show up correctly with this many options). All sorts of teams have been rumored to be interested, whether it be trading up or trading a star QB in exchange or even just having MM slip all the way down to them. When it's all said and done, who do you think Marcus Mariota suits up for next year? I think the 2 most likely options are the Browns using #12 and #19 to trade up for him, or the Jets taking him at number 6. Obviously this is just guess work, but Todd McShay and Mel Kiper Jr. get paid millions of dollars for guesswork.
I'm not entirely pro or anti-Mariota but I did have a dream that we drafted him two nights ago. I didn't have a dream for last year but had a heavy gut feeling that we would draft Pryor, even put it in my mock draft which was definitely not on most people's radar, I don't think. So, yeah...basically I'm psychic for picking our first rounders if he comes to us.
Lol, good stuff. You guys have Mariota on your minds! I voted Saints via trade up but I hope he falls to 6 and we draft him.
There is maybe a snowballs chance in hell that Mac doesnt find a way to get MM for the Jets, considering the interest we have shown in him. This is a major need for this team that trumps all other draft considerations IMO. Doing so corrects our recent history of absolutely asinine draft selections and whiffs on good QB prospects (Bridgewater etc.) Its between the Titans and the Jets so all that remains is the asking price to move up to #2. Waiting for him to "fall to us at 6" is begging for the Browns or any other sleeper team to offer some deal to TN. So why take that chance? Kid is a hot commodity and he will not "slide like Manziel". Just saw him on Gruden QB camp and he leads with quiet confidence in the huddle and took all snaps from center fine. For everyone not "sold on him" take a look at the class of QBs from last year and tell me how Carr, TB, Metenberg etc are doing. MM will be better and the FO will get it done.
The thing I love about draft season is that there's so much talk and headlines but no one actually knows shit. Ron Jaworski just said that he has "pretty plugged in sources" who are telling him that Mariota is gonna go number 1. Meanwhile, Jason Cole just rattled off 6 teams who are all "significantly interested" in trading with the Titans.
Per Jason Cole, in no particular order, the 7 teams significantly interested in trading with the Titans are: 1. Washington Redskins 2. New York Jets 3. Philadelphia Eagles 4. San Diego Chargers 5. St. Louis Rams 6. Cleveland Browns 7. Chicago Bears http://www.musiccitymiracles.com/2015/4/12/8394491/2015-nfl-draft-tennessee-titans-trade-partners
I've wanted the Jets to draft him bad. But there are just too many teams ahead of us. We'd have to trade a fortune to get him. Let's just stick with the pick we get and hope someone makes a mistake.
I voted for Philly even though Chip denies he'll trade up for him. It's probably easier to get a Mariota Eagles jersey in Philly than it is a Bradford Eagles jersey. I heard they made six of them. But there's still a good chance he'll fall to the Jets at 6.
If the Bucs are dumb enough to not take him and the Titans are even dumber to pass on him... Mac needs to call the Jags.
It would be great if the NYJ could get Mariota, but it's just not happening. Most likely, he'll end up in Nashville, but I wouldn't count out those Chargers. EDIT: If there's legs to this second rape charge against Winston, it might be enough for Mariota to go #1 overall.
Not that it means anything, but Titans fans dont want him, nor think he will be the pick. I'm pretty sure whoever gets Mariota isnt in front of us in the draft order right now.
Titans actions speak louder than anything they've said. King reported that they were 1 of 3 teams that heavily scouted Mariota last season, gave him a playbook at the combine to study for his private workouts, sent like 10 key people to his pro day, had a private workout after his pro day, had another private workout in TN. I think the Titans have legitimate interest in Mariota. Hopefully it's all one huge smokescreen. Regarding fans, I think it depends on which forum you go to. TR - they're 50/50, MCM the majority are for MM, GoT has less activity but is similar to TR. There's always 4-5 consistent (loudmouth) posters and the rest of the forum pretty much leans in their direction. Kind of like Jets forums. Ganggreen is the most proMariota forum. Jetsnation and fanatics have 2-3 active members who hate Mariota so the board leans in that direction.
Agreed. I wouldnt be surprised at all to see Tennessee draft Mariota, part of me expects it. I just noticed last week at the GoTitans website that only about 10% think Mariota is the right move for them. And most general NFL forums I've read show that Tennessee fans arent high on the idea. I havent looked at any other Titans boards to confirm what I've read.
Also weird, but I also had a dream regarding the draft. We traded with St. Louis for the 10th pick. I dont remember who they took, but it wasnt Mariota.
