I think that's a joke because there's diffrent levels when it comes to types of crimes,If a guy gets aressted for possesion of marijuana and another guy gets aressted for assualt with a deadly weapon or something worse and they suffer they same punishment it really makes no sense at all.The NFL needs to stop playing the role of the justice system
Where do you guys work? There are some jobs in America you can't have if you have poor credit let alone have an arrest on your record. We as a society enable entertainers because they bring us pleasure. Then when their lives are ruined and we can no longer benefit from their performances we vilify them...drag their personal lives through the mud and then do shows like..."Where are they now? " so even their children become affected. What I'm proposing would hopefully stop the seed from being planted. The seeds that grows and says I'm privileged I can do what I want and not worry about the consequences. Like Mike Vick. Before he was arrested he talked about how much the people loved him...he felt untouchable.
The NFL has sponsors? Last I checked they get most of their money from TV contracts. The networks aren't going to stop pay top dollar for the NFL contract because Ray Rice is a scumbag and the NFL lets him play. The networks also only give a shit about the money and the NFL is the highest rated TV slot every year regardless of how many people Patriots have murdered. It's a big farce.
Well the NFL does sell rights to use their name "official birdseed of the National Football League" and a million side deals and sponsorships because as we all know all they care about is money. And that's why Roger is still on board in spite of all his fuckups. Because under his leadership the revenue and value of franchises has gone way up. IMO though the NFL has nowhere to go but down.
I guess they do have sponsors - a quick google search would have saved me from a stupid post. The sponsors still aren't going anywhere. It's all about the money.
I honestly don't care about guys getting aressted as long as they learn from it and its only a one time deal.Sometimes guys in there position need a wake up call a little bit but they don't deserve to have there carrer ruined over it unless its something the Patriots do like rape and murder people
I was going to make a snarky comment but it reminded me of when soxx said teams didn't have sponsors and I didn't want to dredge up that unfortunate thread _
Unlike what the talking head say on EPSN, the league needs to stay reactive not become proactive. They are here to provide a form of entertainment not morality. Would Disney / Marvel fire any of their movie stars, if they were to be arrested? Nope. Actors gets arrested all the time. It is all a moot point anyway, the players union would never stand for it.
See if I never put him on ignore I would have learned my lesson before inserting foot in mouth. I'd rather put my foot in my mouth once and a while than learn those type of lessons though.
Actors and actresses get "black balled" in their industry for various reasons. Like the comedian Monique. ..has had a movie or tv show since the hit movie Precious.
I'm not even sure if that would be entirely legal . . . But, much more importantly, get off your fucking high horse.
Haven't the Patriots proven that you can be successful with later round players. Yes the draft board would be jammed up but I'd rather put higher draft dollars into the hands of a good kid, who has kept his nose clean for four years...with less talent, who can be trusted, and possibly molded into a productive player than a so called blue chipper that has a history of problems. Money will only exacerbate their problems. If they change then their second contact will reflect that and if the less talented players don't perform then it will show in their second contract as well. This will also compel a kid like Winston or Manziel to stay clean during their rookie contract.
Actors and actresses are blackballed due to collusion which is illegal but also very hard to prove, where you are talking about the NFL instituting a rule/policy. Between this topic and the one where you compare Winston to a serial killer, you are striking out today, guy.
Your focus was the term" serial killer" my point is that the kid has a way about him that should not be overlooked and giving him the status and contract of a top draft pick ...number 1 at that...may be adding fuel to a kindling fire.
If a player coming into the nfl gets arrested and found guilty of a crime that is pretty severe most likley they are going to fall in the draft anyway you don't need a rule for it Look at green Beckham he would be early 1st round pick if not for his off field problems Talks of Gregory falling out of top 10 because he popped hot on his piss test
Lol of course my focus term was serial killer because you made it the main point of your topic and it was just a stupid comparison.
Does this go along with your "no sex during the season" thinking? Please give us more of your Pop Warner anschauung. This isn't a morality contest it is football and kids that don't get into some shit in college are just doing it wrong. Where did it get your boy Timmy? The only reason I look at their missteps is to try and determine if they are going to grow up enough to stay out of trouble enough so that they don't get suspended. Let them party if they can play ball and stay on the field. This is in no way excusing some of the things that some potential draft picks have done but to think a 19 year old getting caught with a few beers should effect where they are drafted is ridiculous.
