I understand that and I think this is a pretty easy case as it appears but the video is incomplete, we don't know what happened before the video started rolling. is there anything wrong w/ wanting all the info before I can say for sure? if this case is as it appears to be the officer is going away for a long time and probably even deserves death.
Yes I know we don't see what preceded the video; that's why I asked just your opinion what could have happened preceding the video that could justify shooting him as he ran away as the video begins? I can't think of one single reasonable excuse why, at that point of the video, would the cop feel his life was in danger or the community was in danger, to justify the shooting.
So how do you think he got into the park then? I prefaced my post by saying that the cop is wrong and should be punished. But running from cops is stupid, not listening to cops is stupid. It's a great way to have something bad happen to you.
It is and that's not to absolve the officer but if he doesn't run then he's still alive. that is a separate issue from what the officer ultimately did.
The procedure for being pulled over for a brake light is to have a summons issued, I believe. 1 thing I question, did Walter intentionally step out of the car? Or was he told to get out of the vehicle? There should be no reason to step out of a vehicle if you are being pulled over for a brake light. If he intentionally stepped out of the car, he might be fucked.
Absolutely. The cop didnt just pull him over and shoot him, something happened between the two of them and the guy took off. That's an incredibly dumb thing to do. Yes, this guy is the victim in the end. But like you said, he's still alive today if he just obeys the law. There's another video of some detective going nuts on an uber driver in NYC. That cop was absolutely wrong as well with how he acted. Difference is, the uber driver handled the situation the right way. This guy in Charleston didn't.
The only person still alive who can give an answer to your questions was shown on tape planting evidence. Who gives a fuck what self serving bullshit he has to offer about it? "Wait for all the info to come out" is code for sit tight while the whitewash gets under way. Sometimes you have to believe what you see. This isn't some Jets quarterback we're talking about.
these are questions we need answers to. I don't want anything whitewashed, I want facts. I want the officer to go away forever if it is as it appears on the tape but I don't want anything to happen IF there were circumstances that led to it. we'll see, what is wrong w/ allowing this to play out? he deserves a fair trial, right? Aaron Hernandez looked as guilty as could be but he deserved a chance to try to prove his innocence.
exactly, if that driver gets out of the car it could have escalated. we have that cop on video and he should never be allowed back on the force again.
Of course he deserves a fair trial. Nobody expressing an opinion on the internet is capable of depriving him of any rights. We're just calling them like we see them. You're telling us that we don't really know how to interpret what's plain to see because we haven't had this guy in court under oath yet. That's not the issue.
I'm not telling you anything, I'm asking people not to rush to judgment b/c we have seen other high profile cases look one way and turn out another way. allow justice to play itself out, if it is as bad as it looks he'll be locked up for a long time.
We are not a court of law. We cannot convict him or take away his freedom, put him in prison, put him to death. This is an Internet court. Use of excessive force including shooting to kill is completely warranted given the circumstances. There are NO possible extenuating circumstances that should prevent us from convicting him on the Internet based upon that video. None. He'll get his day in court and he'll get his side presented, but there is no clearer case of unjustifiable homicide by a cop than this one. _
My opinion is that we aren't allowed to have an opinion until the trial is done and complete and the judge has signed off on it.. even then its iffy. Maybe we can look back in 20 years and share our thoughts on an internet forum. until then I will continue to say this over and over with the caveat "if he didn't run from the police- it wouldn't have happened" which is my opinion. the only one allowed
And Slager planted the taser next to Smith afterwards, so you can't blame Smith since he had no weapons to work with.
There is no possible legitimate reason the cop can give for shooting a unarmed man in the back 6 times as he running away from you and he is further than 10 yards from the cop start shooting. None. Zero. Neither the cop nor anyone else was in danger of immediate and deadly harm when that cop started shooting. This is the clearest case of unwarranted use of deadly force by a cop we have ever seen. _
