Every single one of those guys lost every single playoff game they ever played. You're criteria, not mine. Every excuse you've listed there is just noise and you know it--Kenny had similar careers to every single one of those guys and is top 1 or 2 or 3 in every major statistical category for Jet QBs just like those guys and just like those guys he's an all time player for his franchise. See now you're just trolling but that is a GREAT deflection. Anthony Becht? Ray Mickens? Pat Ryan? Johnny Hector? All Time greats? Haha well done. And if someone wanted to argue that Kyle Clifton was an all time Jet--I wouldn't shit all over him like...well...you know. I get it, you hated the guy, still do. I actually don't care about your opinion because just like 90% of the stuff you talk about here--your opinion based on being intentionally obtuse. I'm not trying to change your opinion of an all time great Jet--you should be happy with how you feel about him. I'm not changing my opinion of Kenny and I'm happy with it. I'll never overrate him and call him a great NFL QB, but for the crap we've run out there, he was one of our best. An all time Jet. I don't need your validation. If a player is on every list of the greatest 50 Jets of all time, trying to argue he's not an all time great Jet is ridiculous. But please do. _
Yeah, I never had the Namath version, mine was this generic version I don't get the hate either. The way some "fans" feel compelled to obsessively dump on ex-Jets is some type of disorder I can't fathom. _
you are making stuff up, where did I say having never won a playoff game was the sole reason I don't think he's an "all time great Jet"? if that is what you think there's no point in discussing w/ you. Ken's career was nowhere near the majority of those guys but keep being you. your argument couldn't possibly be weaker.
Please stop. It's what you've been repeating over and over and over that 'SURELY an all time great should have won at least ONE playoff game'. You've now tried to change your own narrative and you've twisted yourself into an illogical pretzel--I get it, you hate the player, just own it. No need to continuously dump on him. He's an all time great Jet--top 1 or 2 or 3 in every major statistical category for Jet QBs just just like those other QBs are 1 or 2 or 3 (or 10th) in every major statistical all time greats for their franchises. They just never won a playoff game. You don't have to like or accept it. _
that's one of the reasons along w/ only having one good season for us, having a losing record, watching Ken lead us to 5 straight losses to end 1986 then seeing his backup win a playoff game then watching Ken struggle after Ryan got hurt in Cle, being benched 5 different times including for a replacement player. there are many reasons why, the lack of playoff success is just one reason and again he had a team capable of winning in postseason. if he was on the 70s Saints that's one thing but he was on many good teams. I get it- you look at stats I look at reality. Carry on.
here is a list of some of the all time great QBs in NFL history based on stokes criteria: Vinny Testaverde Drew Bledsoe Kerry Collins Eli Manning Dave Krieg Donovan McNabb they should all be in the Hall and have their #s retired by their teams. they are among the leaders in stats all time!
Hahahaaa the old bullshit eye test and the "back-up winning a playoff game" red herring . Weird who you rate higher based upon playoff wins. It's ok, you can hate the guy. _
How stupid and reading comprehension challenged are you? I've never said Kenny is an all time great QB. Hall worthy? Number retired? Never. Not once. Go find me where I ever said that? Now you're just being an intentional troll. Having said that, every single one of those guys are all time great QBs for their respective franchises. _
I am using your (lack of(logic). you say Ken was near the top in Jets stats so that makes him an all time great Jet, those QBs are near in all time stats so using this flawed logic they must be all time greats. and every single one of them much better for their franchises than Ken O'Brien for us.
Are you drunk? You have basically admitted that you don't understand logic. Kenny O'Brien was an all time great FOR OUR FRANCHISE. Our franchise is bereft of talent at the position. Ken O'Brien isn't an all time great NFL QB. Those guys are all time great QBs for their franchises AS WELL. If they are all time NFL great QBs, that's an entirely different discussion. Two different pools we're talking about here. Kind of like your shallow pool and the ocean. Dude, you are making yourself look more and more and more foolish as you continue your ridiculous assault on Kenny. Nobody ever said he's a Hall of Famer, should have his number retired, is an all time great NFL QB. We get it, you hate the guy, always have. _
I am not drunk but can you read? YOUR logic- Ken is an all time Jet b/c he ranks high in stats applying that same logic to those other QBs as all time greats b/c they rank high in stats. same logic, see how flawed it is? stop using it. nowhere am I saying you called Ken an all time great NFL QB, please follow along. you are so overzealous in trying to get that next attack n me you fail to comprehend what you are reading.
Wow. A discussion of all time great NFL QBs where there are 100s of them across time and era's of the NFL --true greats that are worthy of being in the discussion of great all time NFL QBs and a discussion about a miserable snakebit mediocre franchise that has one shining moment to it's history, a franchise that has had some of the worst QBs ever and you're trying to equate the two in a discussion? Hahahaaaa well done. If you're not drunk, you should start drinking right now. _
Lets say for shits and giggles you WERE somehow trying to shoe-horn your idiotic notion into using my Ken O'Brien criteria and expanding it to the history of the NFL--these would be all time Great NFL QBs. The top 5 passing leaders of all time in the NFL. Yards 1. Brett Favre 71,838 1991-2010 4TM 2. Peyton Manning (38) 69,691 1998-2014 2TM 3. Dan Marino+ 61,361 1983-1999 mia 4. Drew Brees (36) 56,033 2001-2014 2TM 5. Tom Brady (37) TDs 1. Peyton Manning (38) 530 1998-2014 2TM 2. Brett Favre 508 1991-2010 4TM 3. Dan Marino+ 420 1983-1999 mia 4. Drew Brees (36) 396 2001-2014 2TM 5. Tom Brady (37) Completions 1. Brett Favre 6,300 1991-2010 4TM 2. Peyton Manning (38) 5,927 1998-2014 2TM 3. Dan Marino+ 4,967 1983-1999 mia 4. Drew Brees (36) 4,937 2001-2014 2TM 5. Tom Brady (37) Yeah, that's not a bad list. Dope. _
at what point do you guys pull out your peckers and post pictures of them up in the thread? i mean this is fun and all but lets just cut to the chase and see who wins the dick swinging contest.
Gotta love when 2 of the more argumentative posters go at it. It's a good read, for sure. Unfortunately, Ken O'Brien predates my fandom. Its nice to learn though.
decent QB, had one really good season in 1985, started off 1986 even better but at some point in 1986 his career took a turn for the worse and he never recovered. was booed like Mark Sanchez 2012 for the last few years of his career here, really hated by Jet fans at the time but time heals all wounds and now we have a faction that believe he was an all time great Jet.
