of course we would but would the big TO come w/ that too? like the Saints game where he threw that game away? he'd have more than 2 SBs if he stepped up in big games. and when we needed him most he led our O to an average of 15 PPg and the lone game we won our D scored in the final 2 minutes or we would have lost. even lost his lone USFL playoff game before losing his job to your hero
Hated Doug Flutie, saw him beat us at Schoellkopf Stadium at Cornell in 1979 when we were building the Carrier Dome and knocked us out of much better bowl game. That little fucker. _
Maybe the TO comes maybe it doesn't, my point is that we were desperate and that 2009 team needed to take more chances on offense. He didn't throw the game away, he was intentionally injured. It was a bad throw at the end, but it should not have gone to that point. Peterson also fumbled twice and caused a turnover on a third play when he botched a handoff in the second quarter at the Saints' goal line. That loss wasn't on Brett.
had the ball in his hands in NO territory needing a FG to win, threw an INT instead. 2 years earlier in OT threw INT that set up GW FG for Giants, it's what he would do in a big spot. Entertaining player, obvious HOFer but I wouldn't want the ball in his hands w/ the game on the line.
I would rather be close w/ a chance to win, lose on a game losing TO, then to score 0 points in the 2nd half and be a non-factor. I would rather have the football Favre's hands compared to Mark Sanchez who can't even get the team sufficient enough points to stay w/in the game. I don't even like Favre all that much.
we were in that game in the 4th qtr, #1 D couldn't get a stop. only reason Favre had a chance in 2007 vs. NYG was b/c opposing K missed multiple chip shots. largest loss w/ Sanchez was 13 pts at Indy. Favre has lost playoff games by 26, 28, 20 & 14. In one game he threw 6 INTs, Mark has 3 in 6 games.
Why is it always the D's fault? Stop with the feminism here Junc ... Why couldn't we score points when it mattered the most? The D can't do everything Junc, the QB needs to step us his game if certain players are injured. Brett takes more chances and that's evident by the fact that he has over 500 touchdowns in his career. Sanchez, should have taken the Eagles to the playoffs this past yr. We can look back at Brett and his loses, at the end of the day - Brett has multiple MVPs and has a ring. More then Mark will ever have as an NFL player.
I keep hearing how we had the #1 D, why couldn't they play like it? O was put in position to score more, K failed then had major injury making a rookie QB 1 dimensional against elite pass rushers in a dome. Brett is a HOFer just at the bottom of HOF QBs not top. I would never want him as my QB in a big game. all I care about is the Jets, Mark helped us get close to a SB while Brett sabotaged a potential SB season so I like Mark better.
Is your arguement that a QB who loses a playoff game by less points than another QB, the QB that loses by less is somehow better? What difference is it if you lose by 1 point or lose by 30 points?
Because the defense can't always carry the entire team. You need to be playing well in all facets to win the big game. We scored no touchdowns in the 2nd half, not one Junc. QB has to step his game up, running game ain't working? Well the QB needs to take more chances. 6 points from a kicker ain't going to overcome a double digit deficit If I had to win 1 game, no a chance in hell do I choose Sanchez over Brett Favre. You can gladly choose Sanchez if you want, just know if I am on the other side of that field coaching, my team has a much higher chance of success. Who has a ring and who doesn't have one?
Do you guys not even realize you're being trolled when you bother responding to the asinine narrative that Mark Sanchez > Brett Favre? Jesus Christ.
the QB was a ROOKIE, had no run game facing elite pass rushers on the road in a dome. what did you expect? that QB and the O gave the "#1 ranked D" a double digit lead against a QB who leads his O to an average of about 14 PPG in playoff losses. It's not about Mark vs. Favre but I'd choose a million other QBs in a big game before Favre. Favre has a ring thanks to an elite D and STs, should have 2-3 rings at least if he stepped up in postseason.
do you realize you aren't reading what is posted b/c at no time did I say Mark Sanchez is better than Brett Favre. don't confuse pointing out a fact we were better w/ Mark in 2009 than w/ Brett in 2008 as saying Mark is better than Favre.
Well this particular discussion is Mark and Favre. None of the other QBs are playing a role in this discussion. OK, no running game that's fine, but at the end of the day - the QB must step his game up if certain players are injured, no excuse - injuries are part of the game. Elite pass-rushers? How many sacks did that elite pass-rushing team have that game? Nadda, zlitch, 0. It takes more then just a defense and a running game to win big games, that 4th QTR - I think we had 2 or 3, three and outs and 1 turnover by MS via interception. You have to extend drives, on 3rd down that is where the QB makes his money. The defense deserves the blame as well and I am not taking them out of this equation but when you are on offense, you have to extend drives and the QB failed to do so. The rookie excuse is such bullshit. Jets go 3 and out at the 8 minute mark, Peyton takes a tired defense and schools them for a TD, next Jets possession is a MS interception. So Junc, I ask you this question 2009 which QB do you take? Favre or Sanchez? Who would give the Jets the best chance to win?
you know there is more to rushing the passer than sacks, right? he didn't play well that second half. There's a reason no rookie QBs have ever reached the SB. all I know is w/ similar talent against weaker competition Favre couldn't even get the Jets to the playoffs. everything else is meaningless but average fans are always wowed by meaningless fantasy #s.
