I sure hope that you're right, but based on Mac's cryptic comments in press conferences about Mo's team having their "perspective" and the very fact that this wasn't taken care of early, I think things may have reached an impasse, and it could mean that Mo's career with the Jets is in jeopardy. I sure hope that I'm wrong, but I have a gut feeling that Mo is pissed that so many outsiders were signed and got big contracts, and he doesn't have one yet. I'm disappointed that he's not there, but can't really blame him. He could get injured in these workouts, which would then work against him in getting the new contract, and could possibly threaten his career. He wants to be taken care of and shown appreciation. I get that, and it is about the only weapon he has short of holding out.

If we trade Mo to the Titans for the 2nd pick, we sure aren't gonna take Leonard Williams, or at least we better not. We better take Marcus Mariota.

I don't like the idea of trading Mo but if we walked out of the draft with Mariota and a highly ranked DE/OLB it certainly would cushion the blow.

That > is as small as it can get. Having them both together in their primes will cause offenses fits. That interior pressure is the best pressure you can get on a QB.

Wilkerson's absence comes four days after Maccagnan suggested Wilkerson's contract situation will be on the back burner until after the draft.

"That's something we're going to discuss here in the offseason at some point in time with him," Maccagnan said. "Obviously, for us, first we're going to work ourselves through the draft process. After that, that's something we're going to address going forward. I think for a lot of these things, it may be a process.

"Obviously, the agent and Muhammad have their perspective. We're going to have our point, and at the end of the day, hopefully find a middle ground we're both comfortable with. Muhammad is a very good player. I'd like to keep him a Jet."

Patience Mo...We will get you taken care of

The New York Jets trade Muhammed Wilkerson to the Cleveland Browns’ in exchange for their 1st round pick received from Buffalo in the Sammy Watkins draft trade last year (19th overall). Browns need a 5 technique, have this extra pick, the cap space to extend Mo and their was part of the group that drafted him. With the 19th pick the Jets select 6-4 267 DE/OLB Alvin Bud Dupree out of Kentucky.

Richardson is better at Mo at everything except pass rushing and that gap is closing fast. The biggest gap between them is leadership and their hustle. The younger Richardson is much more of a leader and does not take plays off. I love Mo but he is not a leader and does not put forth the same effort every snap. This is why Mo does not deserve close to Suh/Watt money while Richardson will.

I agree with this, Sheldon is probably the better player, but I don't like the idea of separating the two. Mo is still a versatile, top flight defensive player who has shown the ability to play nearly every technique/position on the DL and he's quite dominate at doing so. There's no doubt in my that Sheldon is elite, but I do believe that the presence of Mo has helped elevate his game and become a dominant player immediately. Mo's performance against the Saints in 2013 is just one of the many reasons, why I don't think he should be traded.

The Jets don't have to pay Sheldon for another two years or so ... I don't understand why posters are worried about Sheldon's contract, when the Jets don't have to pay him big money for another two seasons at the very least.

The thing here is that you can't double team both of them.

We have no idea how much money Mo wants, so to say he wants Suh / Watt money is premature. Hell, Richardson doesn't deserve that type of cash either [as of now]. They are both able to take on double teams and cause problems on the offensive line. Mo, does a lot of dirty work on that defensive line - it allows other players to shine.

Both very versatile, I think will def see their ceilings if they play together going forward because they play so well together, I think Richardson especially wants that. Hence his comment at the end of his rookie yr to pay Wilkerson.

Exactly, we should have the sufficient space to pay for both players. Especially when Brick takes a pay-cut and Mangold restructures to his deal.

Considering I just got a Wilk jersey a year ago I probably wouldn't buy another Jets jersey for 10 years if we let him walk.

There are 100s of players who are better at his position than Williams is, however. Leonard is an unknown asset.

Only buy jerseys if and when players sign longterm deals. Never get a jersey of a player who is still on his rookie deal. Then you'll be okay, barring trades.

Haven't bought one since Pennington and Curtis ... I tend to wait when players get extensions. Cept well that Sanchez extension ...

Yeah, there was a thread started by someone.

Titans are running a 4-3 with some mixture of 3-4. If everyone involved in the decision making believes Mariotta is a franchise qb, then how about trying to trade Mo to the titans for the 2nd pick? Then at 6, draft White or Cooper? Even if we have to sweeten the deal a little, it might be worth it. Mo is also due a huge contract next year. Thoughts?
