I've been watching the Jets since 1969 and I never thought of those O'Brien teams as anywhere close to being "loaded". Not like the Vinny team or 1982 or one Chad team or 2010. _
Junc, when you 'throw the ball away' it leads to a lower interception percentage, not a higher one...unless by throwing the ball away you mean throwing it a defender. Throwing the ball away is throwing it where nobody can catch it, it counts as an incomplete pass and since interception percentage is calculated off of total pass attempts then throwing the ball away = lower interception percentage, not higher. but he inherited the bulk of that young 1982 team so how could you think the '82 team was loaded and not the mid 80s O'Brien teams?
To me that is so funny. If not for Maynard and his spectacular game against the Raiders in 68, the Jets more than likely never get to the SB. I don't think Maynard gets enough love around here.
he would throw it away(not OOB) and get picked. he had 25 INTs in 2000, if the new staff didn't throw a lot less in 2001 he would have had a similar INT #. this is something Sanchez did too, rather than take the sack he'd throw it up.
he was trying to be funny, I think most Jet fans understand Maynard is probably at worst top 3 Jets of all time and one of our few worthy HOFers based on play on the field.
Again, the QB received a concussion and somehow, some idiot thinks he "was never hit hard". Can we force an intelligence test before a person is allowed to post?
Lets see what the facts say of the AFL being humiliated by the NFL in the SB. SB 1 won by the NFL, Same for SB 2, SB 3 won by the AFL as was SB 4 so explain to us where the humiliation is.
Ah OK, that's what I thought initially, had to make sure. Wish I was able to watch him play in real-time.
You do know Pat Ryan had one chance as an extended starter, right? that was 1984 Jets w/ Pat Ryan? 6-5 Jets w/ Ken O'Brien? 1-4 putting that aside, Pat was a great backup but he was a backup for a reason. Nowhere have I ever said Pat should have been starting BUT he did win a playoff game w/ Ken's team.
If he WAS hit hard it's because he held the ball too long. Plus you know with the "in the grasp rule" QBs were much more babied back then then they are now. _
I don't overrate all time Jets. Maynard was one of my first heroes. If you're number 1 in completions and number 2 in TDs and yardage and attempts and games played and number 3 in completion % and INT% and QB rating--you are by definition an all time Jet. There is NO arguing that. _
great clips, a few incredible throws. was as pretty a passer as you will ever see but there's more to the position than that unfortunately.
