Empirical data such as statistics can only be used if it helps your argument. If it doesn't help your argument, it's the "eye test". Didn't you get the memo? _
where have I been comparing Ken to Dan Marino? there is nothing mean spirited about my argument, it's all based on reality as all my arguments are.
im not trying to do anything. i dont think ive directed a post at you in this thread. and if i did i am sure it was in jest and think the argument was childish from the start and that there were folks who were obviously goading you and then you really just posted about the last page and a half. i dont agree with some of what you are saying in this thread, i do agree with some of what you are saying. i do think ken obrien is one of the all time great jets qbs, i also think he was pretty mediocre but our history of qbs is dismal so both sides of it fit. its just interesting to see it unfold just as everyone thought it would.
I'm not sure anyone has said or would ever say Kenny was a great NFL QB. He was one of our greatest. Kind of like the skinniest chick at the fat farm. _
Ken was a decent QB for his career, he had some great moments but to pretend he was an all time great Jet is silly. He'd be in the ROH today if he was. We haven't had any great QBs but we've had some good ones who have at least helped us win. In all Ken's years here compiling meaningless #s he was a part of ONE playoff win and in that game his backup led the Jets to the win. All this after he was drafted following an AFC Championship Game app w/ a very young and up and coming franchise that was expected to be SB contenders again and never were under Ken.
Ken O'Brien - 3465 Attempts, 95 INT - INT% 2.7 Vinny testaverde - 1845 Attempts. 58 INT - INT % 3.1 Oops?
Do you watch football? did you watch the Jets w/ Vinny? 1998: 421 attempts, 7 INTs. 1.7% other 2 years starting? 1031 attempts, 3.8%
How exactly was the 1985 Wild Card loss to the Patriots Ken O'Briens fault. 13-17 for 185 Yards, 1 TD 1 INT is not a choking performance. Is it his fault that he was concussed and replaced by Pat Ryan? Is it his fault that Russel Carter couldn't tackle and the team lost three fumbles?
actually by fans like you if you ever go to games. I don't boo, never have. Nothing positive comes out of booing another man for doing something I and the other 70K plus people in the stands cannot do.
then why did you use that as a benchmark for Ken O'Brien in your argument? Seems odd that you think booing is dumb and done by hooligans but you chose to prop it up when you want to make a point about a certain player
You know who also isn't in the ROH? Chad Pennington and Vinny Testeverde and Richard Todd. Neither is Pat Ryan and Al Woodall and Matt Robinson. Neither is Matt Snell or Emerson Boozer or Mickey Shuler or Greg Buttle or Abdul Salaam or Randy Rasmussen or Pat Leahy or Marvin Powell or Jim Sweeney or Bruce Harper or Aaron Glenn or Mo Lewis or Victor Green. It's a lazy criteria. Or maybe I'm just more forgiving. _
