Powell has decent hands, IMO the Jets, specifically Chan G, would want a quicker back with good receiving skills. Tyler Lockett could be a player used in the role we were mentioning. Lockett is small, but plays tough and makes people miss like crazy.
Yeah a Darren Sproles type or someone like this guy Oliver on the Chargers would be a great change of pace guy for the Jets. A short quick strong guy who can hit holes fast: we've never had a guy like that. Maybe Leon Washington.
I agree, but just give me the best player you can get. I'm not going to write off ridley because he's got a similar style. There's something to be said for hammering a defense with a bowling ball, then coming in with a fresh bowling ball.
He is a good fit and can catch the ball out of the backfield, he is a nice compliment to our offense. I'm for signing him as long as it doesn't prevent us from taking a back in the draft.
This is impressive, not only because anyone with the internet or a TV knows this isn't true, but also because we just talked for two pages about how he can't catch the ball out of the backfield.
But can Lockett also line up at tailback and run between and off tackle a handful times a game? That's why I'm so enamored with Ty Montgomery at tailback. He a utility guy a.k.a. "OW (Offensive Weapon)" a la Cordelle Patterson, Joshn Cribbs, Percy Harvin, Tavon Austin..etc. but in an every down back body (6-0 220). He was listed as a WR on Stanford's roster only because they had to categorize him somehow. The truth is that he was really a man without a position very much like the guys I referenced. He played WR (slot and outside), RB and QB as well as returned punts and kicks, which he is great at. Like Denard Robinson a couple years ago, he is a prime RB conversion candidate.
let's see, yesterday it was schaub, today it is ridley, why do i think we will be linked to crabtree or jennings tomorrow?
Yeah with what's on the roster, what Ridley offers, and the depth at RB in this draft, I don't see this one.
Not sure what Combine you were watching. He came in at 5/11 and 7/8, which I rounded up to 6-0 and 221 lbs, which I rounded down to 220. At his pro day he came in 10 lbs lower and was able to improve his 40 time from 4.5 at the combine to 4.38. None of this info is hard to find. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2015/profiles/ty-montgomery?id=2552429 http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=119917&draftyear=2015&genpos=WR With regards to the gadget players comment, I think getting a pro bowl caliber returner who can get you some explosive chunk yards plays at QB, RB and WR in day 3 of the draft is pretty good value. EDIT: I'm going to assume that the point you were trying to make is that he measured in at the Combine a lot shorter than the 6-2 listed on Stanford's roster. Anyone who watched a Stanford game, could have told you that 6-2 was one of those NBA w/ shoes and extra padding type listings.
