It will be a starting point since we have history of the exact trade. I think people need to temper their excitement in thinking moving up isn't going to be very costly. IMO, at least 2 1st Rd picks and a few day 2 picks (Rd 2 & 3)

But still less than the RG3 trade I would think. Those 3 first rounders were outrageously stupid.

But yes, it will cost a lost.

It may a ton more, a lot less or comparable. My point is NO ONE knows. In the end it will come down to desperation of one or both teams involved. Sometimes you can have a team more desperate to trade down than up. I have enough knowledge of the draft process to know that I don't know. No 2 draft trades are the same, the current market dictates what happens in each particular instance. So please spare me the lecture as you know as much about the draft process as the next guy posting on a message board.

Hence my point. One team overpays and all of the sudden every team looking to trade up going forward must do the same or comparable? Are the prospects the same? Are the team needs the same? Is the draft as deep? How deep is the position you are trading up for? What did the teams involved do in FA prior to the draft?…etc. There are so many factors to just say we start there. The Redskins GM and/or owner could have been high on crack for all we know.

Exactly. It's like the folks that still pull out the old Jimmy Johnson's draft chart.

It doesn't work like that anymore--every draft is has it's own peculiarities.

As much as I like Mariota as a prospect, there's no way I'd trade up for him. I don't buy the rumors that say Mariota will be going second, I truly believe he'll be on the clock at six.

I kind of agree. I think there are several teams that would draft him if available at their pick but less willing to trade up of him. IMO the Jets have the highest draft pick of the teams likely to draft him. I believe TEN and WAS are posturing trying to entice someone to trade up. If the Jets trade up it will be to beat out some other teams drafting behind them trying to do the same.

I agree know one knows for sure, but not acknowledging the Redskin/Ram trade is wrong.

I'm certain I know more than most on this site about the NFL draft, sorry to hit a nerve. The lack of knowledge and experience of some of posters in this forum is laughable.

I guess you haven't been a regular in this forum for the last 11 years. I can't remember any significant contribution you have made in the draft forum.

Trust me, the IQ of this forum has taken a severe hit over the past few years. I use to run all the mock drafts and had intelligent conversations with people that didn't post nonsense.

If we traded up to #2, that would piss me off more then us drafting Geno Smith in the 2nd round a few seasons back.

You guys had those fun 7 round mock drafts - we prob won't be seeing that for the foreseeable future. I do agree about the IQ of this forum. When I first came to this board, I learned a shit-ton about the draft and this franchise as a whole.

    Not so much nowadays.

Todd McShay considers himself a "mock draft expert". I mean he gets payed considerably to guess where players will get drafted. I wouldn't assume anything at this point, especially from him.

Listen, I apologize for getting off topic. I was just venting that this forum isn't like it was back then, shit happens and things change.

    WW

How do you think this years draft will play out? Do you expect any trade up for Mariota or do you think he will be there for us to take him?

IMO, we stay at 6 and take the BPA, hopefully it will be MM, but it doesn't look good.

didn't it cost the Bills 2 first and a 4th to move from 9 to 4 last year? it's going to for sure cost us this years and next year's first to move up and may be a 3rd or 4th either this year or next year. For all that we might as well trade up to 1st pick for Jameis instead of Mariota.

I just love college football and the NY Jets, so the draft is a perfect marriage.

The Draft has taken on a huge life of it's own, it use be more low key.

Honestly the trade up talk, is just talk, chances are it's extremely unlikely and interesting message board drivel.
