With all that's currently going on, having 6 members traveling for a private workout with Mariota, do you think the Jets may trade up with Tennessee to secure Mariota if the workout impresses the brass?

If they do trade up, what do you think they will offer in a trade to move from 6 to 2? I'm thinking this years' first (#6) and a 3rd or 4th rounder.

    What's your thoughts?

I think they very well might if they really like Mariota, but think it will probably cost more than the #6 pick and a 3rd or 4th.

Moving up 4 spots I'm not thinking it's too much. I think if we were moving up from 15 or lower it would command more...JMO

The Redskins moved from the 6 to the 2 to take RG3 and it took 3 first round picks and a second round pick.

Yeah, I think it would cost more than the 1st and 3rd. Throw in a 2016 first round pick and it seems more likely. Personally I want Mariota badly- mainly because I don't want to watch another Geno season- but I don't think he's worth what it would probably cost to trade up for him.

PS, first post. Question: anyone know how to change the profile pic on here?

No way!! A lot more...... Go look at the Rams/Redskins trade to draft RG3......The Redskins gave up a ton more to move from 6 to #2.

All depends on desperation. Skins were desperate for the pick. Are we? We'll find out just how desperate. I don't think teams stick to the chart as much as they used to.

There is no way to know what it would cost because the market is set at the draft. Unfortunately there may be a whole bunch of teams trying to trade up to get him. We will be stuck in mediocrity at the position for another 10 years probably changing coaches and GMs every 3 years along the way. Then somewhere dow the road we will have another terrible season like last year, have another chance at a top two QB and blow it again at which time the cycle will start all over.

Hopefully our new gm isn't foolish enough to do that. No player is worth what it costs to make that trade. As important as QB is it's a team game and you cannot build around him properly if you give up all those high picks.

    Welcome!

In the upper right hand corner of the screen in the toolbar, you should see your user name, "Inbox" and "Alerts." Click on your username and a menu will open. Third from the bottom in the left-hand column you will see "Avatar." Click on that and you can either browse or type in a url for your new avatar.

If he's there at 6 I'll be happy if they draft him..... but wont be upset if TN takes him and the JETS send a 4th rd pick for Mettenberger :)

I'm normally not ever in favor of a trade up, and in some ways that's even more true this year after Idzik seemingly wasted most of his 12 picks last year, and because I'm very curious to see what Mac will do with his remaining picks this year. That said, we shouldn't be in a position to draft this high again for a while, and there may not be a QB prospect anywhere near as good as Mariota in the next several drafts. Even if there is, the Jets would have to give up a LOT MORE to trade up to get a QB, if the team we were trying to trade with was even willing to deal the pick, and often they're not. Because of that, because of the importance of the QB position, and because I believe in Mariota's potential, I would be willing to give up next year's #1 (if need be) or whatever necessary to move up to take Mariota if Mac thinks it necessary to insure that we get him.

I would only trade up for Winston.

I'd prefer Mariota to the other prospects, but I also think he's far from a sure thing. Cooper or Fowler would be great for the Jets in their own right. Mariota could potentially be even better, but I wouldn't draft him for the sake of drafting a QB. I think Mariota is a long term plan kind of pick, where as Winston likely gets the job on day 1 and has a better chance of succeeding overall.

So only trade up for Winston. Otherwise stay put and take the best guy available.

To each his own. I think Hundley will be a disaster and you love him. We'll see.

Not unless the Bucs take Mariota at #1 for some reason.
