Idk much about him but watching his highlights his release is ugly and I don't think he threw a tight spiral once
Did a forum search to see if anyone was talking about Carden and I was surprised how many posts mentioned him. As far as his release he has been down in Bradenton at IMG with Vinny working on his mechanics. Would be a nice day 3 pick up if they don't go with a QB earlier.
Welcome back soxx. You take the QB THIS year and sit him for a year and then you watch your franchise QB produce over the next decade plus. No OLB or WR or OT or DE or CB or TE or RB or DT or SS is going to change the franchise. Only the QB. And not a flyer on a 4th round guy who has a weak arm or is inaccurate or unathletic or just a guy. One of THESE guys. If we hit on him we're golden. If we don't hit on him we're STILL at the same square one we've been at since 1969. _
No way on earth they are hitching their wagon to Geno so whether it's this year or next year there will be a new QB under center. Maybe it's Fitz this year and somebody else next year but I can't imagine who that would be.

I'd be completely fine. While my personal preference is for MM, Winston is going to be one hell of an NFL QB. Perenial contenders with either of those guys. MM may take a while longer. _
Half the QBs starting in the NFL are picked after that - some much later like Brady and Romo. And there has been quite a few legendary busts that came extremely high. I am leaning toward to the nurture than nature in this debate. If the kid was good enough to compete well in college, I'd think he has what it takes to be a legitimate starter - all that's left is to nurture the kid up to speed. Of course, we are talking about a sample size of 32 players total each year. You really can't make much out of that either way. ===================================================== I tend to think that, the arm strength is the most overrated aspect of quarterback prospects. As with any athlete, I would think that, three things make a very viable QB prospect. 1. Brains [This is the most important of all. This includes quite a few stuff, such as feeling the pressure inside the pocket, sensing the strong side in coverage, reading the blitz, and seeing his open man under pressure.] 2. Decent arm strength. [Yes - decent. You don't need to have Elway-like zips to succeed in the NFL] 3. Fluid hip.
And more than half the starting QBs in the league suck. The Brady's and the Romo's and the Kurt Warner's are the anomalies. You can't point to them and say "hey look, that's a good plan!!" For every Brady and Romo and Warner there are thousands of QBs who have washed out of the league without making so much as a ripple. Luck and hope is not a strategy. It's a bullshit plan. _
But I wonder.... How many Brady's and Romo's and Warner's have there been that just never got a chance? Those guys had the talent but the stars also magically aligned for them to be recognized and get a shot at the big show instead of being buried in the depth chart their whole career. Perhaps if we improve our scouting models/methodology more of these lesser known, diamond in the rough types can be found and developed?? The fact that so many first rounders are busts tells us that there is massive room for improvement in the way teams project college to NFL success.
But you're talking about the pathos of the league, the way it goes for EVERYONE. We can't all of a sudden get better than everyone else, no one can consistently find those diamonds at QB. There are guys that can find defenders and runners and catchers and blockers. No one can consistently find that anomaly QB. It's by complete happenstance, unless you draft high AND pick right. _
If the Jets had the chance to grab Winston you do it without thinking. If the Jets had the opportunity to grab Mariota, you pause to think about it for five seconds and then you do it. I like Bryce Petty as a third option. Mariota or Petty will not contribute in 2015.
Thats ok Jack. I can take a punch. But here's the funny thing; I sit back and have watched this forum for the last 11 years because I selected this team to be my team of choice in this VERY commercial game. One common thought enters my head when I read week after week of WHAT the organization should do. "This forum has 500 potential owners, managers, scouts, coaches, etc." Hmm, sounds to me like you all should be submitting a resume and taking your new job, because there are a thousand anaylists on here who have made less sense than I ever will. And not to get off point about your comment. This reason why people over analyze this game, is because the NFL have made it a game to be over analyzed. I have been to one game in 11 years. The game was good to watch until they were all standing around and I asked my American mate, "what are they waiting for?, his reply was "TV time out". Ahahahaha, are you fucking kidding me? He was kinda laughing with me, and replied "yeah, it's not like your game". Point being jack, your game is not a game, its a manipulated money machine. And that's why it attracts people to comment on everything from the owners brains down. Finally, most Aussies wouldn't even know who owned the Rugby League team, you know why, because they don't play a friggin part in the day to day game. It's not a money machine bullshit like the NFL, it's still a sport.
