A few years back I (for fun) went on a Patriots site and tried to joke around with the inhabitants there (that's the best I can call them) with nothing pro Jet and stupid (like they do) and never defending the atrocious record of our franchise. I identified myself as a Jets fan and to say the least I wasn't welcomed so after a short time I left. There was no sense of humor or desire on their part to get a point of view from the opposite side. It was a mistake on my part and I've never done it again. Boston hates NYC and visa versa. I'm also a Mets fan and in '86 my biggest worry wasn't losing the WS it was losing to Boston. That bothered me more than anything. How dare they try to even put themselves in the same category as New York. They are a minor city and except for colleges and universities they are nothing. The only thing they've done in recent years are the 4 rings. Well New York has 2 (the Giants) a team I basically don't hate just ignore. During the season the last section of the sports page I read is the Giants column. I'll even read the NBA over them. So Boston you have a right to your inferiority complex because you'll never compete with the Big Apple. Winning a SB is just football and it doesn't make you big time.

It is a pretty cool city. It's nowhere near the class of NYC, but I do like it. Good food, good pubs, incredibly historical, the North End, the waterfront, the Common, Southie.

I mean the accents suck and most of the people are drunken idiots, but I like the city itself.

    Fuck the Pats tho.

Just between the two of us it is a good city. But let's not encourage them.

um, the city of boston has 9 major championships since 2000 - patriots 4 super bowls, red sox 3 world series, celtics 1 NBA title, bruins 1 stanley cup.

City of NY - 2 super bowls, 2 world series since 2000.

Boston is a far greater sports town than NY. boston has shown success in all major sports. they have won dynasties in 3 out of the major ones - football, baseball and basketball (back in the day). NY has only only one dynasty team in the Yankees and an islanders team back in the 80s.

Boston has some of the smelliest areas of any major northern city I've ever been to. Way worse than NYC.

    Plus that dooshy accent.

new york accent is worse IMO. it's just creepy. I'm sure boston has some bad parts, but Manhattan which is supposed to be the crown jewel of NYC smells bad.

New York smells and there are rats and slums and bad people. But it's the center of our universe whereas Boston is strictly minor league.

Boston is ok. It's better than Baltimore but that's not saying a lot. But it's not great. And I dare you to make the claim that it is!

You really want to compare the Sox to the Yankees? 27 world series to 8? Crying about being 'cursed' because your team couldn't get their shit together for nearly a century? Bragging about a dynasty that ended at the same time as the First World War? Bravo sir, you have reached epic levels of trolling. please forward me your address so I can send you your prize. (below) Also, I admit my hometown Blue Jays are a very distant third in all this contest but it also gives me outside perspective. No one puts the Sox on the same level historically as the Yankess but Sox fans.

That's not trash son, that's money you're smelling. The stink is just a by- product of generating the greater portion of the 1.21 jiggawatts this country needs to sustain itsself.

New York is the greatest city in the Western Hemisphere. No question. Art, literature, fashion... you name it, New York is the capital of all these things.

New York is also where all of our society's problems (wealth inequality, race relations, political dysfunction, violence) come into sharp relief. Whatever virtues and vices our nation may possess, in New York it's all there, only bigger.

New York is also the capital of pro sports in the USA. LA has gotten by for what... 20 years? without a football team, but it's impossible to imagine NYC without one. In fact, no joke, the NFL would die tomorrow if NYC lost interest in pro football.

But what a lot of Pats fans don't get is the level of noise and swagger coming out of Jets Nation. Whenever Rex Ryan said something off-color at a news conference, it was top-of-the-hour at ESPN. Why? And when Santonio Holmes threw a tantrum, it was front page of the Sports section. Why?

We don't see this kind of reaction whenever the Bills do something. "Is this thing on? 'Cause it's about to be on." Ummm, no it's not. And nobody cares.

Whatever the Jets do, it's magnified through the lens of New York. As Pats fans, we have to react to that. The Jets are in our division, always right there. You guys are the neighbors who pull the huge Winnebago into your driveway. And drive over our lawn gnomes in the process.

Actually the Jets don't get a good press. To many of us RR was a buffoon. Our new HC is not a loud mouth. I hope his actions speak louder than his words. There is no doubt that NEP is a better franchise but that doesn't mean we have to like what they do. You will never be even close to New York. Football is just one minor thing. Plus before Belichick your team was nothing.
