I don't see how he's picked before 25 after this. His stock was already coming down with the rise of Beasley and Fowler. What may hurt him more is whether or not teams actually believe him: "Gregory said he has not smoked marijuana since December, but because his THC levels were so elevated, the drug remained in his system at the combine. Thus, the positive test." So his official excuse is that it was still in his system 2 months later. If you're a fat slob who smokes every day it doesn't stay in your system that long, let alone a finely tuned, hyper-metabolism professional athlete. This smells Gordon-esque to me. If he made it to 37 there'd have to be serious consideration, but not without a plan to assign him a babysitter ala Dez Bryant.
Anybody who fails a drug test at the combine is so stupid he should probably fall to the seventh but Oakland will take him sooner. I wonder how many millions that little hit will cost him over the next 10 years.

Hard to tell what GMs think now. If he is fuckin dumb enough to test positive at the combine where everybody knows that every facet of your body will be tested then what will happen when he is actually on his own? He may slip beyond the 2nd.
Smoking weed is not the big problem. As Mike Golic said, Gregory failed the idiot test. He knew when the combine was, he knew it would take a couple months to get clean if he smoked dope, and he did it anyway. With just how much he had to gain by staying clean he still smoked the dope anyway. He could drop from top ten (where he was likely to get picked) to the 16-40 range. I don't think he drops out of round one but anyone who passes on him in round two will probably regret it.
To be fair Mettenberger was coming off an injury and I was still pounding the table for us to take him in round two or three.
Unless he gets caught again 2 or 3 times in his first couple of years and ends up sitting out a year like Josh Gordon...that's what they are thinking about now.
He already has one strike. I think one more offense within the next twelve months could get him suspended.

How exactly? You and I have a very different definition of miracles. I didn't want him before he failed the drug test. I wouldn't take him as a UDFA now. He's too stupid to have to worry about and deal with. Like Ricky Williams, he obviously cares more about weed than his football career. He was already labeled as a potential bust by one scout.
