Obviously, the jets have hired Todd Bowles to lead their team in the new regime and I have heard mixed emotions about him. I know that it is too early to tell in judging a new coach before the season starts, but I'd like to get a community opinion on him. Now that Todd Bowles has some new assets to use, I'm Curious to see the speculation on Todd Bowles in season one. Poll Below.
I'll put incomplete as his grade, the season hasn't even started and trying to predict is a waste of time.
Who knows? How can we have any type of opinion as to what kind of head coach he's going to be right now when he's never done it? Hopefully we found a great one.
It's too early to say but I voted for .500. Too many variables to predict going from 4 wins to maybe 10. The key acquisition is Revis. We're still not sure about the Qb position. Probably Geno will come into play one way or the other. It would depend on how he does and if there is improvement. I think if he can eliminate the turnover factor and is basically a competent game manager we have a chance to be successful. He is capable of following a game plan even one as idiotic as only throwing the ball 8 times and running on almost every play. So if Gailey tells him to do something I expect him to do it even if he doesn't like it.
Mixed emotions from Jets fans or NFL coaches, staff, and the media? I have literally not heard a negative thing about Bowles. Rex fans are upset I guess
I like the guy so far, but it's too early to tell. I want to see how he utilizes Coples, this defense and his effect on the offense.
Put up a poster with Hall of Fame on one side and used car salesman in 5 years on the other, then spin around twenty times and throw a dart at it. Where the dart lands will be my overall opinion of him before his first practice as a head coach.
He has knowledge of both the 3-4 / 4-3. Our defensive players have the versatility to play in pretty much any scheme. I want to see Coples going after the QB on every passing down, no coverage crap. I think what Bowles will bring to the table is putting the defensive players in position to succeed, unlike Rex who was too loyal to players, he constantly put players in bad spots. Hopefully Bowles doesn't do that.
i absolutely love his personality, but i can't act like i know where his career as a coach will end up the quote that sold me on him was “And just beating the Patriots is not gonna cut it if we lose to everybody else. We gotta have a growth process of learning how to win while we’re winning or trying to win and beat more than just the Patriots.”
I predict Rex Ryan will have more initial success right out of the gate with Buffalo, increasing the pressure from Woody on Mac and Bowles to such a point that the Jets blow up the cap and go for broke in two seasons, after which the team implodes into cap hell and collapses, and Woody hires Rex back.
