Lately, more and more mock drafts have narrowed it down to the Jets selecting a pass rusher or a wide receiver this upcoming draft in the first round. (Mariota is becoming more unlikely by the day) Pass Rusher Perks - Could get to the quarterback more efficiently due to the jets elite secondary - Todd Bowles blitzes heavily in his defense, so a pass rusher could flourish greatly - The draft is stacked with elite pass rushers, so the Jets are sure to get one at #6 (Personally, I love Vic Beasley and think he's a worthy pick at #6) Wide Receiver Perks - The Jets are in great need of a young playmaker and this draft has just that - Another great wide receiver in this offense could benefit "Quarterback X" tremendously - The jets are almost guaranteed to land either Cooper or White at #6 which is awesome (Personally, I prefer White, as he would compliment Decker and Marshall ideally) In conclusion, The jets would benefit greatly from a pass rusher or a young wide receiver All we can do now is wait to see what happens What do you think?
I think Fowler will be gone by then and Gregory's weight worries me. I'd be content with Beasley, White or Cooper
I haven't given up on Mariota being there yet, and don't think I will unless TB announces that they've come to terms with him a day or so before the draft. If he isn't available, then I lean towards the pass rusher (Fowler) if he's there. If he's been taken, then I go Cooper or White. I don't think any of the other OLBs or WRs are worthy of the #6 pick. One of those 4 players HAS to be there at #6. If not, then I pray the Jets can trade down to the right spot and grab the best LT prospect (whoever they think that is). Beasley may be a great pass rusher, but he has a TON of work to do in setting the edge and against the rushing attack. IMO he is nowhere near being ready to start in the NFL and not worthy of the #6 pick.
Only pass rusher i would consider taking over cooper/white is fowler and its not looking like hes gonna be there at 6
It's all about best player available at # 6. If JW, MM & L. Williams are gone with the 1st 3 picks, which is very likely, Fowler, Cooper or White should be a NYJ. The other pass rushers are a reach at # 6.
Who do you suggest to draft at #6??? Anyone other than Fowler, Cooper or White is a reach....it's BPA.
I would not prefer to trade down in this draft. This draft has so many mock drafts that vary the first ten picks compared to other drafts in recent memory. Nothing is certain or guaranteed. The reason for this is because of the immense amount of projected talent in this draft. At pick #6, we are sure to land a stud.
I know it would piss off half the people here but don't be surprised if the Jets don't trade up to take him. Tannenbaum moved a lot higher to take Sanchez so it is certainly doable.
True, but I think the Jets are in a "must" situation in terms of finding Brick's replacement. We want and need the best LT possible to replace him. If Mariota's is gone at #6 and there's an LT prospect that the Jets love, but they have him rated in the 9-13 range, I hope they can trade down and get him. There will be very good OLB and WR prospects in the 2nd round. They may not be "studs" but then again, one of them may wind up being better than the guy they would have taken at #6.
It's too bad the OT's aren't rated as high as year's past. I still think Flowers is going to be the best OT drafted in Rd 1.
Yes, it is. Typical Jets luck. Won too many games to be assured of getting Mariota and won too few to be in the right spot to get Brick's replacement easily. At least they're in the right spot hopefully to finally get a stud OLB or WR.
Fowler White Trade Down Don't want anything to do with Cooper/Mariota and Beasley. If White and Fowler are gone we should trade down.
i watched fowlers cut ups against uk and fsu and im not buying the hype as a top 10 pick ... i would pick cooper, beasely, or white ahead of him, in that order
Cooper or Fowler, preferably Cooper. An Amari Cooper doesn't come along too often. He's a ‘best player available’ pick - 6-1, 210-pound, precise route runner with 4.42 speed. Which Patriot's covering him? http://days.to/nfl-draft/2015
Vic Beasley is not a reach at the 6th pick. Fowler looks like a less-developed Terrell Suggs. Beasley, IMO, looks like a clone of Von Miller.
