the same game he left early w/ an injury and his backup led the Chargers to the game winning TD drive.

many QBs have outplayed Peyton Manning in postseason:

    Steve McNair
    Chad Pennington
    Tom Brady
    Ben Roethlisberger
    Drew Brees
    Joe Flacco
    Russell Wilson
    Andrew Luck

If Rivers is as good as Romo and Ryan I take it no question. To me he's slightly below that and I still take him.

and? that means it doesnt count when you go on the road and beat a better team in the playoffs? yet it does count when you lose to a lesser team in the playoffs. if you only show a players bad performances then no one will look good

is this guy really questioning rivers being good? Not 1 of his defenses he's had any year will be as good as what we will trot out there this year, and we might not have won in 2009 with him? pffff, we won that game because we ran for 165+ yards and held them to below 50. You add Rivers to the Jets and you have an INSTANT contender and anybody who disagrees is blind a.f

I take it over what we have but not giving up the #6 pick and paying franchise QB money killing our cap.

don't confuse being overrated and me not liking a QB w/ saying he isn't any good. Rivers is GOOD, you guys act like he is great.

No, Rivers never did that. he led super talented teams to early playoff exits.

we don't know if they win if Rivers stays in.

di you watch the game or just look at the boxscore? we couldn't run most of that game. we had the big Greene run but the majority of that game they shut down our run game. Our QB made big plays and their QB gave us big plays.

I don't remember Rivers being "awful" in that game.

I do remember Kaeding missing a bunch of kicks.

The bold is another example of how you just make things up to support your theory. Just because Favre wanted to play in Minnesota doesnt mean he had no interest in playing for us and mailed it in that season when we were alive going into the last week of the season. The Jets were hoping once they got Favre here they could sell him on NY and things would work out. It didnt, still not a bad decision to go for it IMO. Favre is an all time great. If you cant see that I dont know what to tell you. When you have a chance to get a guy like Favre you think about the overall body of work, not a handful of games you felt he came up short in. Once again, thats not how you judge players. You dont just play in 1 or 2 big games a season and then thats it. You have to get through 16 of them first.

I'm not going to get into Sanchez with you cause nothing anyone says is going to change your opinion on him. So why discuss it? You feel the way you do, fair enough.

But this has gone off topic. Pennington is better then Fitz or Geno have proven to be. Adding a guy like Rivers completely elevates a team that is trying to win now. We can't sit around and wait for Geno to figure it all out, and Fitz is a capable player whose better suited as a backup then as a starter.

he was bad. Kaeding missed 2 makeable kicks but Rivers kept us in the game. Our only TO set SD up at our 38 up 7-3 in the 3rd. what does Rivers do? throws an INT right back to us. It was a spectacular INT by Revis but the best corner in the game had his receiver blanketed and he threw one up in hopes his guy would come down w/ it.

we pin SD at their 4 at end of 3rd qtr. Rivers passing out of his EZ panics and throws brutal INT to Leonhard w/ no SD receivers anywhere near him. sets up our O at SD 7. we score TD take lead and never give it back.

against prevent late he put up some #s but could only lead his O to 14 pts.

He had the one big run, didn't do much else that game. averaged 3.4 YPC on his other 22 carries, Jones averaged 2.9 on his 14 carries. we did not have a run game all game besides the one run by Greene.

Sadly, your response is typically uncivil. I've been a Jets fan longer than you and am well aware of their history of sorry QBs, and how difficult it is to find a franchise QB. You are the arrogant one with your condescending comments like, "I don't know if you've noticed, but..." and you were the first to talk about those of us who wouldn't trade for Rivers cracking you up but I guess since that's you it's ok. You contribute little to this forum except sniping at others and making condescending comments.

I don't think I'm some wise expert, nor am I looking down at my nose at anyone. Like most posters, I'm confident in my opinions. One thing is for certain, I'm obviously more mature than you. I at least make an effort to get along with other posters and have civil, rational discussions, not sit back and make snide one and two sentence condescending posts about posters.

Ohhh so that's why leading up top our week 2 game Favre was busy helping Det prepare for GB? Favre played, he's a competitor- did he put in the work during the week? based on his play I would say no and when the season went south and it got cold he had no interest in playing. looked like he was trying to get ton the LR as soon as possible to warm up.

Favre is a deserving HOFer but on the bottom of the HOF QBs not near the top.

Favre was 39 and would need to learn a new system for the first time in 15 years so it's not "when you have a chance to get a guy like Favre you get him"

the best guys play well through 16 and in postseason. Rivers has been a good reg season QB, poor postseason QB.

we don't have a ton of cap room, we'd have to give up a top 10 talent in the draft who would have manageable cap # plus probably not be able to re-sign Mo who is a top DL in this league to bring in an older QB who hasn't been bale to win w/ more talent in weaker division. it doesn't make any sense.

That also assumes the levels of responsibility between the two QBs was apples-to-apples.

While Rivers had that bad INT by Jim Leonhard and a fluky, miracle-bounce pick by Revis, let's be honest about Mark: he was essentially told to keep his legs closed and to 'hold it in.' He had one nice rollout pass to Keller and a 5-yard completion for a 1st down. That was pretty much it. That and the fact that Nate Kaeding in 63F degree/light wind San Diego weather gagged from 36 and 40 yards. Throw out the 57-yarder, but you cannot miss a pair of kicks from 40 and in. Otherwise it's 20-17 SD.

come on man it's too late for this road when you already compared most of us to 10 year olds with excitement and mentioned that you are here to keep us grounded (despite your irrational love of everything about a QB prospect- mind you)

Ok well we're going to have to agree to disagree on Favre.

There are plenty of ways you can play around with contracts to add room. If the cap is a problem for the Jets then it is what it is. If you cant get him you cant get him and you do the best you can at the position. This is just a hypothetical situation.

So we should only be interested in QB's who have great postseason records? Is that what your saying? Guys who play in the playoffs all the time like Rivers are gonna have some bad losses maybe even more then they should. But that doesnt take away the fact that you have to be in it to win it. Guys like Rivers get their teams there. Your hoping that eventually he can put those playoff troubles behind him and lead a team to a SB.

Obviously Rivers had more responsibility but he was a vet and was expected to play much better than he did. He failed.

call it a fluky, miracle bounce but it was an awful decision throwing that ball in revis' direction.

Mark made 2-3 huge plays. Not huge as far as an 80 yd TD but subtle big plays. The biggest was a 3rd and long completion to Cotch which set up the punt that pinned SD inside their 5 and set up the Rivers bonehead INT. they don't get that first down(on a great pass) then we don't pin them inside the 5.

the next was the TD, it wasn't a long one and he was handed incredible FP(thanks to Rivers) but he made something out of nothing on that 3rd down and threw a perfect pass where only Keller could catch it. Up 10-7 and down 7-6 is a HUGE swing in a low scoring game like that.

you assume we allow that 2nd TD if Kaeding hits those FGs, we went into prevent mode. does that happen if Kaeding hits one or both of his kicks? No. Missed kicks happen, we missed 2 the next week.

we are allowed to disagree on anything. don't take it personal b/c I disagree w/ you.

I just don't believe in giving up what it would take to get Rivers and paying him what it would take. he is not an elite guy but we'd be giving up $ and picks like he is one.

Tampa Bay may be the only team in the last 30 years to win the SB without a franchise QB (maybe longer than that). I'm not saying Rivers should be the target but if this new FO thinks either of these two guys in this draft is that guy they should do whatever is necessary to move up and take them. It may be decades before they get another chance..unless of course they step in shit like NE did.
