you simply do not have enough time to sit there and develop 2 spread QBs while also evaluating Geno Smith. drafting 2 QBs in back to back high rounds is an awful idea. we need several other positions to be upgraded. FS / CS make the big $$$ by making the decision between the 2 QBs to see who the better fit was. If Hundley were a 5th round prospect maybe I would agree with your notion, however drafting a QB in the first and second round is about as bad idea as you can get. None of those players will be on the field day 1 and you are severely hurting your chances of improving the next season. Even so, these prospects are not that great to begin with. This would be an absolute waste of time for the Jets.

It's time consuming enough to develop 1 QB, to develop 2? Awful idea.

But it's not about the next season! Yes, evaluating more then 1 will take longer, but would you really prefer musical QB chairs for another 10 years instead?

And just to piss you off even more :), I'd be for keeping Simms too and checking if he learned anything.

Looks like we don't have to worry about having Mariota. He's going to be a Titan, like most suspected.

If you want to be satisfied w/ losing next season well that's an issue you will need to take up w/ yourself

I want a QB, that I am simply sold on. If I don't like a particular QB like a Hundley [who holds onto the ball too long, does a lot of things I just do not like] I won't draft him plain and simple - I won't take him because I didn't take one in RD1. Last time we drafted a QB just to draft one, his name was Geno Smith. That worked out really well for us didn't it?

    Simms sucks anyway.

Ah yes, let's believe everything we hear prior to draft time. Prob wants to field more offers and get more people interested.

Sounds like Geno's job for now. Bowles says Geno will take starter reps in OTAs due to Fitz's leg, but adds that Geno will take starter reps in training camp even when Fitz is healthy. Adds "that doesn't mean that Ryan can't take that spot"

Speaking of the starting job as if it currently belongs to Geno, with it being his to lose

Except it has been reported several times that Geno was told to throw to the first read period, open or not.

Maybe, on this topic. But people need to realize just how destructive Rex was to our offense. Funny thing is that it sounds like he may even be worse in Buffalo. Instead of learning from his mistakes Rex becomes more belligerent

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...odd-bowles-geno-smiths-our-no-1-guy-right-now

"He's the No. 1 guy right now," Bowles told NFL Media's Tiffany Blackmon. "Fitzpatrick is injured and we don't have a draft yet, but we're looking at a competition there based on the way he finished the last game and some of the things he did, he did a great job doing that but without seeing him and sitting down and talking to him it's kind of hard to say right now. He has made some strides…"

"We're going to take the best player," he said. "I think (general manager) Mike (Maccagnan) said it earlier that we're going to take the best player available. We're not going to deviate from our board and if that happens to be a quarterback, then we'll take a quarterback."

    once again, obvious.

the right approach as well, vague enough, noncommittal enough.

this is the second time TB has mentioned wanting to sit and talk with him too come to think of it...

    not good enough.

MM does not have the college offense pedigree that makes him an automatic shoe in over someone else that may be far more likely to dominate the LOS for the next 15 years.

I'm not the one you need to convince about Hundley.
Now, what's your realistic scenario for not losing next season? Actually, first define what "not losing next season" means to you. And by "realistic" I mean "any player in the draft, any FA who fits under the cap". So "MM falls to Jets" is realistic (kinda), but "Aaron Rogers is traded to NYJ" is not.

i just hope woody isnt a big part of the decision making. any time he sticks his head into things it ends up being a colossal failure.

I dont mind if we pass on mariotta. but if its because of faith in smith that is just horrid.

if mariotta is there and we DONT take he we better trade the pick and at least get value that way

yup, rex asking terrible QBs to throw the ball was a terrible idea. year 1 when they didint let sanchez throw things worked well. should have stuck with that

I told you -- draft both, or just Hundley, or anyone else. The fallacy of your point is not wanting Hundley over Mariotta. It's being content with not drafting a QB at all.

Let's say you spent your 1st rounder and found JJ Watt or another Revis -- an absolute stud that will be stellar D-man or CB for another 10 years. So what?! You still can't score and thus can't win!

We don't need a top tier QB to win in this league.

I want an impact player @ 6 - wherever that be Cooper, a pass-rusher, offensive lineman [we need help @ G and T]. MM / Hundley isn't going to help us win next season, and it's a large possibility they may NEVER help us at all. Cooper, Fowler, a La'el Collins from LSU - that is going to make this football team better next season. That will pave the way for the future as well.

There is a lot of talent in this draft outside the QB position, I think people need to realize that.

No, I think both Smith and Fitzpatrick suck; Geno being one of the worst starting QBs in the league and Fitzpatrick simply being way below average. I assumed Woody was told that Geno is more prepared than Mariota prior to the signing of Fitzpatrick. Then I saw this ... "Bowles: Geno Will Take Reps with First Team, Fitzpatrick with Second Team" ... and let out a gigantic sigh, then muttered "F*ck it" to myself.

So what's your criteria for "not losing next season"?
