Incredible how this guy can continue to talk about wanting to sign our player for a 2nd time without ramifications yet Woody Johnson's off-the-cuff response to a reporter's question taken out of context constitutes tampering. This is what happens when one owner has the commissioner in his back-pocket by pushing through an obscene compensation package for the commissioner and then backing him during the Ray Rice fiasco. Kraft is the NFL's equivalent of Don Corleone buying off all the judges. http://www.csnne.com/new-england-patriots/kraft-fan-me-wanted-keep-revis?p=ya5nbcs&ocid=yahoo
Obviously you don't so don't bother posting in this thread. There are plenty of others for you to comment.
This whole "tampering" thing is blown way out of proportion on every side. Tampering to me is negotiating a deal while a player is under contract with another team. If Woody had called Revis at some point last season and said "If you come back here we'll give you X amount" then thats tampering. But this bullshit that if an owner says "Id like that player on my team" its tampering is just laughable. Even what Kraft is doing here isnt tampering. Nothing says that an owner cant talk about a player after he leaves that owners team. Good players know that every owner would want them.
I agree. I am just point out the hypocrisy of the Pats for filling tampering charges against the Jets and now their owner has done the same thing twice without any ramifications.
Tampering to you has absolutely nothing to do with the word of the NFL rule If you have a problem with the rule then you may think it should be changed but your idea of tampering is irrelevant
The NFL's definition of tampering is broken all the time. So much so that they now have a "legal" tampering period where contracts are broke before the players even sign them. If that doesnt scream of a flawed rule then IDK what does. Basically everytime an owner or coach compliments another player or says that they wish that player was on their team its tampering? Thats a joke. Woody is a moron. And he's notoriously bad with the media at press conferences. All he had to say was "Darrelle is a Patriot now" and that would've been it. But I refuse to think that his stupidity is reason enough for a draft pick punishment like so many NE fans suggest. I doubt he was thinking he could woo Revis back here at the end of a season press conference where all eyes were on him with an up in arms fanbase. Anybody who thinks that is giving him too much credit. The same way people dont think Belichick knowingly breaks rules all the time.
It is not tampering to talk about another player that is why there will be no ramifications. You can talk about other players all day, every day and it is not tampering unless you express interest in the player. My question is why we have a second thread about tampering when it is absolutely clear that no tampering exists. People need to read the rule first and if they don't understand it have someone explain it to them. Don't you think a reporter would have brought it up at least one time in the article if there was even the faintest hint of tampering since it is all over the news?
