Well, NC State is right there too...I know Patrick Ewing was like a God in college.

Again, you guys are WAY off target. I am talking about making the Sweet 16 since 2009, and you are talking about National Titles.

the thing w/ NC State was they had some major injuries during the season, if they were healthy all year they would have easily made tourney and not needed to win ACC tourney to get in.

Bad stretches do not happen to teams that have had the kind of regular season success that Villanova has had. At least, not without a coach being fired.

Since 2009 we have had two 9-Seeds, two 2-Seeds and one 1-Seed. We have ZERO Sweet Six appearances. That is PATHETIC.

it's not good but it's not fireable yet. if this keeps up another 3-5 years then I'd look to move on but we know he can coach at a high level and bring teams deep into the tourney.

Again, you are contradicting yourself. The NCAA Tournament is the REAL season. That's all that matters in judging a teams success. Those are the standards YOU set.

How exactly has Jay Wright demonstrated he can coach at a high level? What sustained success does he have on his resume?

those are the standards for the program I follow. I follow a top program, you do not.

'Nova is always ranked, always in the tourney and usually a top half seed. he's been to a FF, multiple elite 8s and sweet 16s. go get Lappas back if you dislike Jay. he'd be hired for a good job in a heartbeat if he was on the street.

this isn't Wright related but just wanted to share this:

    Andrew Batchelor‏@awbatchelor 28m28 minutes ago
    Last 12 years:
    Coach A: 8 S16s, 4 E8s, 3 F4s, 0 titles
    Coach B: 7 S16s, 6 E8s, 3 F4s, 2 titles
Coach B is 7-0 vs Coach A during that time.

Coach A gets universal praise as an amazing tournament coach. Coach B is "overrated". I'll let you figure out who they are.

Coach A is at the top basketball school, outside of Kentucky. He has more basketball resources than anyone and gets better recruits than coach A.

Also, coach A has a title as well. The person just limited it to 12 years so as to not include Coach As title and make him look worse for his argument.

A better comparison would be comparing coach B to Coach C, as in Coach Calipari- of which Coach B loses

So I shouldn't WANT my program to be elite?

Where have I suggested firing Wright?

And even if I did, are you suggesting Steve Lappas is the only person who would want to coach there?

    you missed the point- shocking!

Roy has been better than Cal too and Cal's just lucky a dirty p[lay by Creighton killed Carolina in 2012 or Cal wouldn't have a title.

I want the Jets to win the next 10 SBs but it's not realistic. you can want them to be elite but it's not happening.

No, just suggesting you should look at those #s I posted from 1986-2001 pre Wright.

When you say stuff like this, I begin to wonder if I have issues expressing myself. You equate wanting Villanova to make two Sweet 16's between 2009-2015 with the Jets winning the next 10 SB's?!?!

you are saying you want 'Nova to be elite. making one more sweet 16 since 2009 wouldn't make them elite.

They can't be elite overnight, but to get there, they have to step in the right direction. That includes making at least the sweet sixteen when seeded 1 or 2.

That is at least moving in the right directions. This program has seriously regressed since making the final four.

no doubt they should make it when seeded 1 or 2. elite programs like Gonzaga is now, they crushed their opponent last night so I agree but upsets happen from time to time as well. Carolina was defending champ w/ a more talented team in 1994 and lost in the 2nd rd. it happens.
