I would give up this years first and next years if he will agree to a new contract. It is impossible to get a franchise QB in a trade nowadays and its the biggest seperator between teams in the playoff hunt ever year and those that are struggling. Rivers is an above average QB and with Marshall and Decker as his WRs I could easily see him having his best years ahead of him. All that said, I dont think he wants to come to NY.
True, but it only takes one hit to put a lot of money on the sidelines, or out of football. Really, if we could take out Brady for a season and it only cost us 15 yards, that'd be a pretty decent trade-off. Rivers would be the best we've had in a long while, but I don't think he's that good. What has SD done with him?
Any player can be out for the season so you can't not sign somebody because of that unless they have a history of injuries. I don't think Rivers was ever out for an extended period of time (I did a quick check online and couldn't find anything) but I could stand corrected on that. As for compensation I would not give up two no. 1s or even one no. 1. I think you can get him cheaper than that. An exchange of no. 1s this year (6 for 17) is equivalent to us giving them our no. 6 plus a 28th pick in the first round according to the draft value chart. Maybe throw in a 2016 3rd round pick but not easy to know what SD will demand.
He's started every game since '06....though I believe he finished last year a little banged up. He's a pretty tough player.
It's true the O-line is on the way down. Mostly because of age. We did recently have 3 Pro Bowl players on the o-line. Brick isn't the player he used to be. Mangold is still pretty good but probably not up to what he once was . We no longer have Moore. There is an attempt at a rebuild which hopefully will be successful. It all depends on the development of a few holdovers like Oday and Winters. Plus other guys like Breno etc. I think they can be average.
I totally agree that the Oline sucks. That wasn't my Point though. My point was every QB sucks with a bad oline.
100 percent agree. This deal will only happen on draft day tho. The Titans would have to pass on Mariotta for SD to even want to deal with us. There's no chance of them moving him without being in a position to get Mariotta. It doesn't make sense for them if he's not there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
