1. Vic Beasley OLB Clemson: Aside from Dante Fowler I like this kid the best. He's got good hands and speed. He is also a freak in the weight room. He will do wonders for the pass rush. Beasley is something this team has needed before Gholston and we haven't had the fortune to get a player like him before. Drafting someone at #6 means they have to contribute, play and make an impact. Mariota will be gone, and we don't have a position open for significant playing time for an outside WR. OLB makes the most sense at 6. 2. Jaelen Strong WR Arizona State: I think White or Cooper will be available at 6. But I don't see one of them starting over our current #1, 2. Strong is a savage and would do well in the role we give him. Not a lot of pressure, let him play and he'll be able to take over sooner or later. #1 WR potential. I think DBG goes before him. If he's gone look at Dorsett. 3. Bryce Petty QB Baylor: We need a QB to sit and learn. If Mariota is there at 6 take him. 3rd is the earliest we should address the QB position otherwise. Bryce has potential. The answer to QB doesn't happen this year. Fitz either plays well or doesn't. Geno can't be counted on but his play could improve. It's a safe pick. He needs time to develop and we have no sure fire answer. Trade for a big time QB next season or trade up for a QB. Petty just had his pro day and he took all 60+ snaps from under center. He impressed and many have him ranked as the 3rd best. I believe he is by a mile, stay far from Hundley. 4. Jeremy Langford RB Michigan St: Langford is a good runner. He's physical and is someone primed to split carries with Ivory. Langford is great at pass protection and catching out of the backfield. Thats something we need. Powell is serviceable and will make plays when called on but Langford is a dynamic player and would be a great addition to our backfield.
Like first two picks. Do not like the second two. Not a fan of Petty. System QB. Turns to crap under pressure. Do not like Langford. Great straight line speed but terrible agility. Cuts are nonexistent and too small to power through anybody.
Cant complain. Dont love Beaslys usefullness on first and second down, but the guy can get after the pass for sure.
Wow I would sign up for this everyday and twice on Sunday. I like Strong, Petty and Langford is just the slasher type runner we need.
Looks okay to me. Beasley looks like a good prospect to me, although some of his concerns about tenacity/style of play brings another former 6th overall pick to me... Wouldn't complain with Strong, but given what the team already has at WR, I'd prefer more of a game-breaker with return ability. Not the biggest fan of Petty, but if the Jets really liked him, then sure. Langford would be a nice add in the 4th
Love the Beasley pick. Don't think Strong and Petty will be available in the respective rounds you have them going in.
I like the first 2 picks. I don't like Petty. He has a big arm, but I'm worried about how he will adjust in the NFL because of Baylor's system. If the Jets go RB in the 4th round, I'd want them to pick David Johnson.
I think I came across a little harsh on Beasley when in fact I do like the player. I just feel we would be reaching for him at 6.
I've seen at least 30 mocks and this one is my favorite still. I think every Jets fan would sign off on this.
Thanks man. I'm still going back and forth between Cooper or Beasley. It's tough. I like Petty though. He's worth a 3rd IMO.
