GU did play a quality non conf sched but overrated KU helped their computer #s. outside of them they played 1 tough game against Wisconsin. that's it then inside the BE it was mostly mediocre teams.
How about EWU coach Jim Hayford talking trash leading up to G'town (chilly, unsporting handshake with J. Thompson after the game as well). The Washington Post DC Sports Bog Eastern Washington coach guarantees win over Georgetown By Scott Allen March 18 Eastern Washington will be a trendy upset pick in NCAA tournament pools this week and Eagles coach Jim Hayford is certainly confident in his team. “We’re going to win, talk again, Jim,” he said Wednesday at the end of aninterview with CBS Sports Radio’s Jim Rome. (“If you’re still in a pool you can fill it in, you want to put the Eagles in,” Hayford said earlier in the segment.)
Look, I am no fan of Thompson, but he had as much legitimate bulletin board material as any coach in this tournament.
So in other words, folks, computer numbers are only valid then they reflect UNC in a positive light. This is what you call a fair argument.
the RPI had KU as #1 most of the year and the Big 12 as the bets conference. are you watching the clip you posted?
Yet the same models that treated UNC in a positive light were accurate in that instance? Yep. Clear as day. Correct call.
obviously Carolina played a tough sched both out of conference and in conference. GU played a quality non conf sched. you wouldn't know what a correct call looked like so you confirm how bad of a call it was. Thankfully it didn't cost them the game.
But YOU would, right? You, and only you, are the authority on what is a correct and proper call by an official? Like Tom O'Neil's garbage phantom travelling call on Allen Ray?
Running up the score and dunking is classless. Throwing a punch is something else entirely. I did not make it sound like they threw a punch.
And the fact that it was done against a darling mid-major has nothing to do with it being deemed classless?
Correct, it doesn't matter which team it is against. Etiquette is when you're up at the end and you can run the clock out, you do so. No reason to rub it in, unless you're John Thompson III, Bret Bielema, or Bill Belichick.
Then it's very simple: stop talking about it. Whenever UNC loses to Duke, it's the refs. Now, in a game (played in a southern venue no less) against 'Hahvad' you're at it again, post after post after post. I mean, why do fans of the so-called bad-ass ACC continue to bellyache about the refs even after playing the Ivy League? * in before "Harvard would be 3rd in the Big East" Mostly? Six of the ten Big East teams are good teams. 2014-15 BIG EAST MEN'S BASKETBALL STANDINGS Conference / Overall School W-L Pct. / W-L Pct. Villanova 16-2 .889 ; 33-2 .943 Georgetown 12-6 .667 ; 22-10 .688 Butler 12-6 .667 ; 23-10 .697 Providence 11-7 .611 ; 22-11 .667 St. John's 10-8 .556 ; 21-11 .656 Xavier 9-9 .500 ; 22-13 .629 DePaul 6-12 .333 ; 12-20 .375 Seton Hall 6-12 .333 ; 16-15 .516 Creighton 4-14 .222 ; 14-19 .424 Marquette 4-14 .222 ; 13-19 .406 And 'Nova's every bit as good as anyone outside of Kentucky.
that's not true. I didn't mention the refs the last game< I did the first game b/c it was a joke. It's frustrating, duke gets all the calls anyway but to not have 32 FTs to 7 against ND, to have almost 10 less FTs against Harvard. it's a joke. 'Nova really good GU decent Butler decent Providence Decent Xavier and SJU ok. SJU did not belong in the tourney. They benefitted from inflated computer rankings.
