Looks like the Vikings are not going to release Adrian Peterson. He doesn't want to play another down for them. So, something's gotta give. Looks like they are going to have to deal him, maybe at a bargain price. We are one of the few teams that could afford to pay him. Would you try to pull off a Brandon Marshall-type deal for AP? Say a 4th, and pick up the contract? I think I would. That would be sick...a pissed off Adrian Peterson with a chip on his shoulder...he might run for 2,000 yards. Marshall, Decker, Kerley, Cooper, Amaro, Peterson. Would that be enough to win ten games with a guy like Fitzy taking the snaps?
Meh, probably not. He'll cost a 4th round pick (when we already don't have a 5th and a 6th), and he'll want a big contract. At his age (one year before 30), I'd have to say no (even if he basically missed all of last season). With Marshall, it was different. We needed a legit #1 WR badly, and we only gave up a 5th rounder. His contract is team friendly, and he's a guy that will be productive for a while I think.
Wilkerson for AP and a 3rd round pick sounds fair but we would need ADP to agree to a reasonable deal that would lock him up for five years. Also, the Vikings would have to eat some of that deal.
that is a BOLD move. i dont think i would want to see that. even tho AP just got a year off, hes got tons of miles on him. hes been pretty much the entire minnesota offense for like 7 years now. 5 year deal for a guy whos been used like that? idk man...
I bet you never thought it would be possible to add Brandon Marshall and ADP to fix our anemic offense in one off-season. If we got him we wouldn't even need an average QB.
cant disagree with you there. but thats a big blow to our D line and D in general. now that theres no bringing ellis back, we would actually be thin if this went down.
IF we get our pass rusher in the draft. if we stay at 6 and MM is there then he ends up a jet IMO. i just cant see us passing on him unless we make a big draft day deal. i didn't consider the coples part tho and that actually makes a ton of sense. also, i know a lot of people hate the trade mo factor but i dont think you're not wrong in that notion. IF we do get another young talented DL in the draft, i can totally see us moving him for a sizable return.
Unless and Until Mo signs an extension I would hang onto Coples. Also, trading Mo clears the cap space to bring in AP. Unless the Vikings take crappy contracts back (Harris, Powell, Breno, etc.) we do not have enough cap space for ADP and Wilkerson.
Well we could trade Mo to Tenn for #2 and Mariota and trade Coples to Viks for AP, then trade Geno to the Raiders for a bag of cow poop. That should do it.
I don't get the idea that Bowles will come in with an aggressive defensive scheme and immediately trade his most versatile defensive player who is also home grown talent. Mo gonna get that contract, he ain't going nowhere
i hope so for my personal love of mo being a jet. but the harsh reality is hes an excellent bargaining chip for the future so dont be so surprised if he gets moved.
