My family were Met fans when kid so I was a baseball fan, played Little League and all that. We would watch the Superbowl but we weren't really Football fans. As a result Football wasn't much more than a blip on my radar until I was a preteen(9-10). However, up until that point if anybody asked I was a Bears fan, The Fridge, or Giants, SB a few years prior. Everybody was Giants fan in my area back then, leaving the Jets out in the cold. Being the idiot I was, am, I decided that I should root for the poor losing team nobody liked. Anyway in short to sum up what the last 25 years has been like I'll run with a quote from a terribad movie which has only 1 redeeming value, it introduced me Jackie Wilson. "Oh Johnny, did you back the wrong horse" J E T S JETS JETS JETS!!!
The problem is ... he wasn't "just improving it". The in-stadium chant was much better in the 80s when it was spontaneous and started in different areas of the stadium, and before the league decided every team should have a "super fan". He made it worse, not better. Also, he's a dick (but that's secondary).
He isn't a Dolphins fan. He liked them as a kid. Get over it. He didn't quit. He was assaulted in the bathroom during the Thanksgiving game with the Pat in '12. He's considering returning. NYDN poll showed 80% of Jets fans want him back yesterday. If you're gonna talk about him, good or bad, be honest. Lying just makes you look like a jackoff.
As long as bringing him back doesn't put us in Cap-Hell again, I am all for it. Lets do a 1 year try and buy contract and front load the long term if we decide to renew.
His first team he rooted for was the Dolphins. If you ever liked the Dolphins, IMO you get no respect from me as a Jets fan. Fans need to quit swallowing this guy's load as if he's something special.
Perfectly said. Don't understand the hatred and jealousy. Guy loves the Jets and gets the chant going. If I got assaulted like he did along with the taunts and threats at games I would've left also.
The atmosphere was best because of the old stadium and old fans . This new place SUCKS . You have new people around you every game . And most of them are Douches !!!!
I don't get the hard-on so many people have for him one way or another.... who gives a shit. I do think it's sad that the state of fans in the stadium has become so lame, that they need him to "lead" the chant. The J-E-T-S chant was around long before Ed was....... but I guess the common fans have been weeded out
