As lawyers say, you are assuming facts not in evidence. I see no evidence that there is an offense out there that is likely to lead to a significant improvement in Smith's play. Only he can do that by improving his own play. Put another way, I dont think it was the OC's fault the last two years that Smith sucked so bad. It was Smith's fault.
Fire him. We've reviewed division results from years ago here at tgg I smell a billboard Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think Mr Ryan is convinced his Buffalo Defense can win the AFCE without even fielding a QB. He may be right, but if Rex ever wakes up and imports a pretty good QB they become the team to beat overnight. But right now the Jets and Bills are in the same boat....neither team has shit at QB and probably won't for some time so they're trying to win in every other way possible. And defense is a good place to start. haha I can see both games this season ending in a 0-0 triple overtime tie.
Trust me pal I'm not a Geno guy whatsoever. What I meant is that a semi spread offence is better for his game than Marty's high verbiage west coast offence. To make it clear I want Mariota and don't trust Geno.
Agreed 99%. I give the jets a bit of an edge at qb over the bills. To me fitz is better than cassel and geno still has a glimmer of hope. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm going to go with Musical Youth on this one, since I don't think they have the rights to even perform the song anymore.
I posted on another thread the other day some analyses prepared before Smith's rookie season. Those were saying that they felt that Smith's talents were very well suited to the WCO. They pointed out that in college the vast majority of his passes were short, and he could run the shotgun in the WCO. I also think that Marty could hardly be charged with taking only one approach with Smith and sticking with it. For example the more open and occasionally down the field O for stretches in 13 was seen as leading to too many interceptions. More or less the last quarter of the season they went much more to short, high percentage passes. The net results imo were mixed because although Int's went down, so did ypa, and three of those defenses were not very good. There's no simple coaching decision to make with Smith that will improve his performance to any significant extent. I realize this is the off season, and people want to be optimistic. But I just did not see that it was the coaching that was holding Smith back up til now. He holds himself back.
I agree that Marty tried a lot of things but IMO the verbiage was too much and it caused Geno to think too much. I think if we only have fitz and Geno we are in trouble no matter what... Fitz has already failed with Chan in the AFC east so I'm not too optimistic there... Geno on the other hand at least has some unknown in Chans offense good or bad... Hopefully we don't find out either and we either draft Mariota or trade for Drew Breese.
Our defensive line is without question better, the secondary will be close, possibly better then it was then and same with the LBs. What can put it over the top is the edge rushers... We didn't really have one in 09-10, so if we can finally get a pretty good one this D can definitely be better.
Totally a Geno fan here...although I think it's a put up or shut up year for him BUT... I think a coaching decision, such as not saying "you must throw to Percy Harvin on this play even if 11 people are covering him" - would likely help his performance.
